With impressive support from all over the district, state Senator Stephen F. Lynch has bounded ahead of the other Democrats in the 9th Congressional District race, according to a new Boston Globe/WBZ-TV poll.

The South Boston senator has rebounded from early unflattering stories about his financial problems, and his personal popularity has soared, the poll showed. By a wide margin, voters chose Lynch as the candidate who best understands people like them.

NARAL Runs Radio Ad Supporting Massachusetts State Sen. Cheryl Jacques' Campaign for U.S. House
http://report.kff.org/repro/kr010905.htm#4

The National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League is sponsoring a radio advertisement supporting Massachusetts state Sen. Cheryl Jacques' (D) abortion-rights stance and criticizing state Sen. Stephen Lynch (D) as the two square off for the Democratic nomination for the House seat of the late Rep. Joe Moakley (D). The 60-second radio ad is being broadcast throughout Boston from Aug. 28 to Sept. 10, prior to the Sept. 11 Democratic primary. The ad features two women discussing the election, with one who says that Lynch is "hiding his record on a woman's right to choose" because he "doesn't want voters to know that he would turn back the clock on women's rights." The woman continues that according to the Boston Globe, "Lynch is proud of his anti-choice positions. He's proud he sponsored legislation to ban abortion procedures even when the woman's health is in danger. ... [He] is proud he voted against a bill to protect women from violence and harassment at health clinics." The ad says that Jacques, however, "fought for a state law to protect women from violence at health clinics" and is "the only candidate who has always defended our right to choose." The ad concludes, "In Congress, we can count on Cheryl Jacques to protect our freedom of choice." This ad can be accessed online (NationalJournal.com, 9/4).
