We've Harvested The Melons

Dnevnik, Sitel, A1, Zum, Kanal 5, Vest, Nova Makedonija, Vecher and Fokus are joining the operation "Essential Harvest," supporting its aim to disarm and pacify the paramilitary NLA. We want Peace. We know that even obsolete weapons can kill. We value the symbolism of the “Harvest” operation. That’s why we decided to contribute so that symbolic is totally understood by all citizens, especially those who belong to the ethnic communities which are not included in the voluntary disarmament. In order for them not to feel like second-class citizens, we give them a chance to voluntarily surrender the weapons they have stored in their basements, pantries, and kitchens.

By this action we all contribute to the demilitarization of the country. We named this operation of symbolic civic disarmament We've Harvested The Melons

It will take place on Friday, September 7, at 14:00 hours. The handing out, evidencing and storing of the weapons will be done at the gathering check point in front of the Assembly of Republic of Macedonia. After that its destroying will commence. Respected Citizens,

We call upon you to come at the scheduled time before the Assembly building and in a disciplined manner start the voluntary disarmament. For that purpose, bring your favorite weapons with you. The following weapons types are to be taken into consideration:

tea and coffee spoons with a caliber of 3 cm, and other calibers, mostly of Chinese production; soup spoons, caliber 5 cm; hand scoops; standard caliber table forks; short range rolling pins; other kinds of infantry defensive weapons, such as ping-pong balls, tennis balls, clothespins, straws, can openers etc.; other kinds of semi-heavy and heavy offensive weapons, such as pots of short and medium range, pans, frying-pans; ground-to-air beans projectiles made in Tetovo; watermelons made in Strumica; land mines type “banana;” hand grenades type “tomato” made in Gevgelija and “egg” made in Belimbegovo; bomb-cakes and éclairs; pens and pencils; paper planes; toy-tanks; medium range knitting needles; water guns; rattles; jars of jam and pickled foods (from last year); the unavoidable melons (watermelons, melons, ect.) and everything else that can be used as a weapon.
