Faith and Action Ministries ^ | September 6, 2001 | Rob Schenck-Ten Commandments Project

URGENT ALERT: Ten Commandments

Will you stand with me to support a new bill in Congress called the "Ten Commandments Protection Act" that will stop the ACLU's insidious campaign to ban the Ten Commandments from our society?

Click here for more information and to sign:

PETITION TO SUPPORT THE "TEN COMMANDMENTS PROTECTION ACT"

"Ten Commandments Project" is conducting this petition drive because the ACLU is using the courts to strip the Ten Commandments from our cities and towns. In fact, they just won another victory in Indiana.

But now we can fight back! My contacts on Capitol Hill have informed me that this new bill -- The Ten Commandments Protection Act -- will be introduced in Congress very soon.

I want to be on hand when the announcement is made to present your signed petition along with petitions from 50,000 citizens across America.

Please take a moment right now to sign. Then, help me spread the word to your friends who are concerned about faith and morality in our society using our breakthrough "grassfire" system.

We will chart your influence as it spreads across the country and around the world -- giving you access to a personal reporting site tells you how many people followed your lead and signed this petition. You will see your impact grow!

PETITION TO SUPPORT THE "TEN COMMANDMENTS PROTECTION ACT"

Thank you so much for your help.

Rob Schenck
Ten Commandments Project
An Outreach of Faith & Action

P.S. When you sign this petition, you will be shocked to discover how the complaint of one person in Elkhart, Indiana, caused the Ten Commandments to be defeated in federal court. Just one person! Please help me rally 50,000 people in a united show of support for the "Ten Commandments Act".

On final note: when you sign the petition, I would like you to have two prayer bookmarks featuring a beautiful reproduction of Dore's famous Ten Commandments etching. It's our gift to you. TO RECEIVE YOUR COMPLIMENTARY "TEN COMMANDMENTS" PRAYER BOOKMARKS:

Government should have nothing to do with religion. It exists to protect individual rights, not to promote one religion over another.

IMO, "in God we trust" on money and other public/government property puts government in the middle of some religions, while it implies ignorance of religions that don't acknowledge any God(s).

imprimateur ...I had to look up the definition. Couldn't find the word. I did find imprimatur: Formal and explicit approval.

It fits the context of your posts where used.

I signed it. But, I signed it because the 10 Commandments are a good set of moral rules for any society that wants to remain civilized.

They are not geared toward any one religion. Just as our money says 'In G-d we trust'. Not geared toward any one religion, and I think the founding fathers did this on purpose. jmo

Try enforcing that one. Good luck. You're going to need an awful lot of cattle cars to bring all us non-believers to internment camps for the ghastly crime of not honoring the religion of the State.

OUCH! ... is right.

Not a bad idea. They could include the Hammurabi Code, the 10 Fold Law (Hinduism), The 10 Charges (Buddhism - Khuddaka Patha), the 10 Duties (Jainism), the Straight Path (Qur'an), Precious Garland (Buddhism - Nagarjuna)

They are all essentially the same....

Okay everybody, you all have to pay to have the words "in God we trust" removed from every instance that it appears on public/government property and pay to have the words "in Satan we trust" replace them.

Now how do think and feel about your tax dollars being used to support religion? I suspect the pro government/religion people detest the idea. I suspect the anti government/religion people think it's a fitting statement -- in Satan we trust -- of the malevolent, criminal government -- politicians and bureaucrats -- we have today.

You believe there is no god. That is a belief not the absence of one. There is no such thing as a belief vacuum, just different sets of beliefs.

Proof: It has been proven that the Earth is round. It has been proven that the Earth is not the center of the Universe. It has not been proven that Santa Clause (flying reindeer with fat man in red suit and sleigh in tow) exists. Santa Clause does not exist. Belief has nothing to do with it. It has not been proven that God exists. God does not exist. Belief has nothing to do with it. Mysticism is the culprit.

It has been done for 200 years - who are you to say it is not right? The framers had no problems with religion. You are wanting to take away the rights of people and superimpose your will over them.

It has been done for over 1,000 years. The church leaders had no problems with the geocentric model of the Universe (Heck no. They had all their livelihoods and future power of the church pinned on it.) That's what the Inquisitors proclaimed of Copernicus for his revealing that the Earth was not the center of the Universe. Are you angered at Copernicus for exposing the church's hoax. BTW, 1,700 years prior to Copernicus, Phoenician businessmen circumnavigated the Earth by sea and likely documented the fact that the Earth was not the center of the Universe. Unfortunately, the church crusades burned 600,000 manuscripts in Greek libraries/archives.

You do not have a right to post religious doctrines on public property.

You (ClancyJ) do not have a right to use my money to pay to post religious doctrines on public property or your property. I didn't have my money extorted from me by the IRS to pay for support of your religion.

A million dollar lawsuit coming your way. But it will only cost you a dime if we can settle out of court. :)

Where's the text of the "Ten Commandments Protection Act"? I didn't see it anywhere on the petition site, and it's not available at Thomas either.

Then YOU anti up the money to take them down. I WILL NOT pay taxes to take them down for you. This works both ways.

I never asked you or anyone to pay to take them down. That's your straw man. I advocate that you stop using government by proxy to extort money from me to pay to support your religion. The point is, by proxy, you have been extorting money from me and using it to support your religion.

The text of the petition:

To: Leaders in Congress

Re: Defense of the Ten Commandments

As a concerned citizen, I am calling on you to take decisive action to support the display of the Ten Commandments on the public property of our cities and towns.

It is outrageous that our courts are stripping the Ten Commandments from our public parks and buildings at a time when our society desperately needs moral guidance and direction.

I am calling on you to take two specific steps in support of the Ten Commandments:

#1-- Move quickly to sponsor and pass the Ten Commandments Protection Act" and similar bills that free our cities and towns to display the Ten Commandments on publicly owned property.

#2-- take a public stand by prominently displaying the Ten Commandments in your Congressional offices.

Our nation is in a cultural crisis. The Ten Commandments has become the defining symbol of this struggle for the soul of America. Please take action today to support the Ten Commandments. I will be monitoring this situation closely.

Where did you find it. I have written an email to the ones doing the petition.

Personally, I think asking them to put it in their offices is a little too much which could kill the whole thing. Too many in office that are not believers.

From what I gather the actual functioning of the proposed law would be to indemnify bureaucrats from suits over any First Amendment violations concerning religion. The text of the law hasn't been finalized nor the drafts revealed.

This campaign calling it the 'Ten Commandments Protection Act' is rather deceptive, akin to calling a law preventing suits against food conglomerates the 'Apple Pie Protection Act.'
