FreeRepublic Fundraiser - IMPORTANT - FreeRepublic Needs Your Help! (Thread 19)
9/5/01 | Ron C.

Posted on 09/05/2001 12:17:52 PM PDT by Ron C.

It will be very easy for you to say, "Well, I will do something, some day. When I can afford it, I am going to." But would you let an old "grad" tell you one thing now? Giving is a habit. Get into the habit now, because you will never be able to afford to give and contribute, thus to repay the obligation you owe to those people who made this college possible, if you wait until you think you can afford it. Start now regardless of how small, and in the days to come when you are confronted with demands for many worthwhile causes and charities I think you will find that you will give dutifully to all the worthy ones. But here and there you will pick one or two that will be favorites, and you can do no better than to pick this, your Alma Mater, because you will not only be repaying your own personal obligations, you will be making your contribution to the very process which has made and continues to keep America great.
This democracy of ours which sometimes we've treated so lightly, is more than ever a comfortable cloak, so let us not tear it asunder, for no man knows once it is destroyed where or when he will find its protective warmth again. - Ronald Reagan

Help keep the dream alive!

Imagine if there was no Free Republic... gasp!

- No Sore Loserman protests to save an election...

- No Washington Times Ad pushing Congress to Impeach...

- No exposing of traitorous public officials...

- No media watchdog to ferret out the bias...

- No Breaking News...

For these reasons and a thousand others, please support Free Republic

While the large donations are exciting, the small ones may be more treasured ...... they may actually be sacrificial. So don't be reluctant to give if your donation can only be $5 or $10 ..... those are vital to the success of FR. And bumps help, too! :-) - posted by WillaJohns -

Free Republic is a user supported website that runs off the brains, experience, energy, and yes, the cash, of freepers and lurkers. It is an undeniable fact that Free Republic has been instrumental in stopping the liberals with thier socialist agenda, and keeping up the fight for conservative causes and against corruption in government.

If you feel strongly that Free Republic has made a difference and you want to see it continue on, please send in a donation of whatever your heart moves you to send.

There are now 5 of us making donations of $1 each for each new donation. That's assuming you are still in, grannie9.

From Thread 18:
I have some pretty nice, actually very nice, BDL's with the nail-driving, highly prized Hart, stainless steel barrels. Actions tuned, glass-beded & floated. Anyone know how to put together an auction for these weapons?

How's that??

All right, folks...let's get it on. Once again, it looks like the overwhelming MAJORITY of Freepers are going to let a select few carry their water for them. Most of us would agree that Free Republic is the ULTIMATE source for news and information on the web. I would challenge you to find a better one. Many of us read newspapers (why, I'm not sure), still more subscribe to cable or satellite services. You PAY for those services! Then why do so many of you refuse to toss a few bucks the way of Free Republic? Many of you complain vociferously about those who suckle at the teat of big government; those who collect welfare checks, those who let other taxpapyers pick up the costs of their medical expenses, and so forth. When you let OTHERS finance the day-to-day operations of Free Republic, you are NO BETTER than those you claim to despise. Is it apathy? Is it just plain laziness? Who knows? Is it REALLY that tough to pony up a lousy TEN BUCKS every quarter to help keep this site going? Freedom is NOT free. Deal with it. Have a garage sale. A bake sale. SELL something. TEN BUCKS just isn't that hard to come up with. I know unemployed people who contribute to Free Republic. People on pensions who contribute to Free Republic. Twenty bucks a quarter spent on the newspaper. One hundred dollars (or far more) spent quarterly on cable or satellite; the content of which irritates the h*ll out of most of us. But for the forum that many of us claim to love so much; the forum that we just can't live without...sorry. I just can't spare it. You, sir/madam...you should be ashamed of yourself. Don't be a parasite like the liberals and socialists...give a little today. Just ten stinking bucks. It's for YOUR freedom; and that of your children. (That means YOU, all the members of the press who lurk here...don't forget the time-honored tradition of PAYING for your sources.) End of rant.

Does anyone mind if I paste the preceding rant to occasional upcoming fundraising threads in order to shake some money loose from those who think it is perfectly acceptable to freeload?
