Kosovo role for Mugabe police

ZIMBABWE policemen, discredited at home by rights organisations, have left to join the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.

Twenty officers, selected by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), have been asked to join the UN force in Kosovo despite allegations that the force is partisan and has aided President Mugabe's campaign to undermine the rule of law.

Tony Reeler, a director of the Human Rights Forum which documents violence against civilians, said: "The ZRP demonstrably ignore the rule of law at home. We must wonder why they are entrusted to protect lives in Kosovo when they are unable to protect the lives of people at home."

Wayne Bvudzijena, a police spokesman said the ZRP was held in high regard by the United Nations. "We get a request from the UN and we supply the officers."

Right men for a UN job. Like in Zim, Serbian and other farmers were chased out from their land by armed thugs. Like in Zim, UN police is doing nothing to protect the rightful owners. Like in Zim, UN police did nothing to prevent more than 1000 murders and 1300 abductions.

I don't doubt that, given the recent Conference of Racists in Durban, RSA.
