End Congressinal and presidential pensions: let them count on soicial security, 401k's, IRAs, etc. like the rest of us.
Or take the pensions and salaries of the Congress out of the hands of Congress, and let the individual states decide the compensation for their own.

Make them more accountable to their own constituents...

That's an excellent idea. I'm not sure if there are any constitutional problems with that--wasn't it decided that state-enacted term limits violated the Constitution b/c the Constitution prescribed the requirements of congresspeople? I don't recall the exact legal arguments and perhaps compensation would be tied in with that.
We need to do something. It's become top heavy and unfair. Someone mentioned on another thread that once people are elected to congress, they're set for life...and that's NOT what the founders intended. Just think about the ever-expanding list of congresspeople we have to fund; and as the population grows, more districts are drawn.....we're supporting these people in perpetuity. The problem will only get worse and worse.
perhaps a DRASTIC change in compensation structure is a replacement for the term limits that didn't go anywhere. There won't be the riches... instead it will attract people who actually do want to serve their country, not just get wealthy.
LET'S DO IT!

Thats a gpood one. Term limits would do wonders as well. Then turn D.C. into a museum and move the capitol to Nebraska so the little guy can afford to serve his nation.

But nothing will happen to upset the applecart till we the people throw a rebellion party and the longer we wait the less likely that will happen.

I think the best thing that can happen is for a state to elect a governer with a set that will defy the feds.

hmmmm Maybe Oscar Goodman? He tore into the feds last night at the department of energy's meeting on Yucca mt as a dump last night. Lots of people spoke up. I can see that as a issue where a state can rebel.Hmmmmm maybe?
