The big difference between the democRATS and republicans is the democRATS never take personal responsibility for their actions, they will wait until the guilty member has lost all support from the public and then they pounce on that member, much like chickens peck their injured to death, and then they try to take the high road. The hypocracy of Dick Gephardt is so odvious, he waited until the polls showed Condit was toast before he made his first negative statement, as if he didn't know that Condit was being less than honest.

Ruth , you don't know the half of the Congressional Pension System.... what you're seeing is just the TIP of the iceberg. Congress is so very immoral , arrogant, self-centered and out of control because WE the PEOPLE have given them the POWER and MONEY to morph themselves into European Royalty figures and Hollywood Movie Star LookAlikes and Rock Stars . We have been looking the other way and giving them this power and money with NO oversight. These people in Congress are the PEOPLE's hired help and their job is to MIND THE STORE and nothing else. We need to stay on them like a chicken on a June Bug to get them and their arrogance back to the question " Who's minding the store ?" By the way, any HONORABLE CONGRESSMAN would be standing up RIGHT NOW demanding the EXPULSION of Condidit.

Gut gesprochen JohnHuang2 ! Now let's write our Congressmen and add our little drip to pressure them to EXPEL CONDIT... nothing less !!

Don't bet on the "financially broke" this is a Congressional sham too.

Well, son Chad, said yesterday, that his father, Gary has been set up by people who hate him and want him off the intelligence committee (oxymoron). I am delighted to hear that the VRWC is alive and well, but methinks this low life formerly invisible gongresscritter is over the top on this. Although newest to speak of the girlfriends says he intended to be President!!!

RE #26 The congressman will be receiving fiscal year 2002 congressional funds as of Oct. 1, won't he?
Can't remember the amount, but this is a significant amount of cash to run his offices, pay staffers, etc.

What are you doing October 20th? Planning to FReep his "Condit Country" fund raiser? His "Condit Country" fund raising event will be freeped with great vigor.
This event is held on the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds property in Turlock, CA. We will have to do some checking on the property layout to see if we can get close to the venue or if we will be off site on public sidewalks.
Stay tuned for further developements.

RE: Condit Country-didn't I hear the attorney friend of the Levy's (can't remember his name, the one that protests in front of GC's office, and has the website calling for his resignation), already has a permit to protest at the fairground that day?
Along with Condit's congressional funds, will he be receiving his annual pay in a lump sum on Oct. 1, for fiscal year 2002?

$ yes $1.3 to $1.5 million with little to no oversight. Plus "Election War Chest" , plus whatever he's "stashed" away , plus 1 for 1 matching " supplemental funds" plus a ~4 times the federal cost of living raise each year...... shall I go on ? and at retirement ( I believe at age 60 ) a full retirement that is more than most Americans will ever see ....

>> He also has scheduled his massive annual "Condit Country" fund-raiser for Oct. 20...<<
15 more days.........tick, tick, tick, tick.......BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
LOL

>>Well, it appears that he will at least be broken financially .<<
Au contraire. You can live just fine off a meager check like that. Just ask the Unabomber.

#32 It's October, not this month, but time is ever nearer!
Condit is also honorary co-chairman (with Ben Nighthorse-Campbell) of BikerPac, and their annual meeting this year is October 14, I believe, and will be held in DC. Will he show up for that?

More lame garbage excuses from the Condit camp.
If Gary were to have been "set up" (no one could have set up his response to Chandra's dissappearance) by people "who hate him", it would not have been the VRWC, or Republicans at all - in fact it would have been Democrats who thought he was too cozy with the enemy.
The problem for Gary is that his actions, viewed in the light most favorable to him, show him to be a coward of low character.

Disgusting when their pensions are more than my husband's military pay. End Congressinal and presidential pensions: let them count on soicial security, 401k's, IRAs, etc. like the rest of us. You are absolutely right. We have less to save & invest for our own retirements because we're paying for these folks to live like kings & queens.
To: JohnHuang2
Condit's error wasn't moral turpitude, but colossal ineptitude -- failing to parlay unbridled venality and self-indulgence into martyrdom. Once again, your insight is exactly right. They're abandoning him because it now looks like he's not going to get away with it.
To: Ruth A.
Now who is it gets to decide who gets a social security and who gets a huge govenment pension?
That would not be congress would it?
Do you really expect congress to reduce its benefits package?
Do you realize that in 6 months Condit will get less publicity than Jon Benet? You do remember who Jon Benet was don't you?
Will Condit's kids get federal government jobs? I wonder if Daschle will find them nice hundred grand jobs on the Senate staff some where. Maybe young Condit can take care of Boxer's shorts. That might be a big help to the California Senator. That is, if she doesn't wear briefs.
To: kattracks
The scrutiny is expected to send the camera-shy Condit back to the basement hideaway office in the House members' gym where, sources tell The Post, he spent much of his time in June and July to avoid the media siege. He could avoid the media from a jail cell after being incarcerated for obstruction of justice. That would suit me just fine!
