A couple of weeks ago there was an article in the New Yorker which outlined the development of DDT and its use as a 'miracle' against malaria.

More interesting was a letter to the editor in the next issue from the son of the man who was responsible for introducing it into the US.>

He related that, as a stunt, his father would eat a chunk of DDT to allay any doubts about it's safety, and that when that didn't work, his kids would step up and eat a chunk, with his blessing. None suffered any ill-effects.

Rachael Carson's book (not to mention other junk-science from the left) is responsible for more human deaths than DDT.

We need the Republicans to speak out. Maybe we could get Helms to decry the racist attitudes of the left and how they are wilfully killing poor African children at the rate of 1 every 40 seconds.

That would bring some attention to the issue.

No doubt about it. Rachel Carson's use of ink has led to the deaths of tens of millions of people, more than have ever been killed by pesticides or illegal drugs.

She was one of the patron saints of my ex-wife, along with Elie Weasel (mispelling intentional). Liberals don't mind lying if it's in a good cause.

Good post about a subject that needs reintroducing. The DDT thing was probably the first environmentalists power movement by fear, followed soon after by the asbestos debacle. Once they got away with that the race was on until it finally reached the rediculous state we are in now with sucker fish over man and global cooling being rapidly replaced by global warming, mandating the elimination of the internal combustion engine and the use of fossil fuel. Many leftists "scientists" would swear up is down if it would further the socialist cause.
