From Thread 11:

Spam?  Spam?  Who called a note from FreeRepublic Spam?  Let me at em...

None of us would pay for Spam.  But a short little note would get many of us to pay for the three course meal that is FreeRepublic.

Put me any place on the emailing list for such notes.  I can be on the bottom, just so long as I'm on it and get notice.

I think mailing out a short note to our members is a great idea.

I'm with you and DoughtyOne. A short notice letting registered posters know that the Quarterly Fundraiser has begun, reminding everyone that Free Republic is supported totally by donations from those who frequent the site and pointing the way to the secure credit card link or address if anyone wishes to send in a donation would not be considered "spam" in my opinion. Better yet would be a notice on the home page announcing the Quarterly Fundraiser with appropriate links and a link on other pages.

Many people do not have a great deal of time to spend on Free Republic and can easily miss the fundraising threads unless they are specifically looking for them. All the volunteers on these threads can use a little extra help to get the information out to FReepers and Lurkers everywhere.
