Imagine if there were no Free Republic...
- No Sore Loserman protests to save an election...
- No Washington Times Ad pushing Congress to Impeach...
- No exposing of traitorous public officials...
- No media watchdog to ferret out the bias...
- No Breaking News...
For these reasons and a thousand others, please support Free Republic!

One of the FReeople was looking for a picture of a Suckerfish(aka Carp) during the fishing contest.---
Here it is---
Not the 'bottom' of the 'bottomfeeders' by any stretch of the imagination. {;~)

Hey steveegg. Yes, Emergency Plan B turned out quite well. LOL Actually, the Freepathon caught us off guard, we didn't know about it until around 5pm on Friday and we had to scurry to get something pulled together. Thank goodness for our wonderful Letitring. :)

See you are all recently 'logged in'. Could you help out in 'bumping' the Free Republic Quarterly Fundraiser threads? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I wouldn't want it under screen names either for lots of reasons. You can usually find other ways to identify disruptors and . . . but a big thank you to those who have carried me thus far . . .and I mean that sincerely.

I popped the head right off one of those one night, stepping on it to get the hook out. Soft little boogers, those.. I didn't actually catch it. I had another fish and this one swollowed it. Twant that big tho...

Again, I don't mean to infer that Freepers on the monthly donation plan be given special privileges or special status. Just a little recognition next to their names that lets the forum know that they are contributing to Free Republic on a monthly basis. Doesn't have to be an asterisk. It could be their screen names showing up in red or something like that. Do that, and a lot of people will want to get their screen names recognized as well. I really like your ideas, Sam. This is even better.
Topaz and BADJOE:
If we did something like Sam suggests without tying it to fund-raising, would it still be a legal problem? I think we would just be supporters. Word would get around and you wouldn't have to put anything up on the website
To: d14truth
"I would expect that we would have to 'chum' the waters for a 'couple of weeks' caused we scared all the fish away with our 'carrying on'."
Naw, we'll just sneak up on 'em the next time, catch 'em sleeping. :)

I don't oppose the idea of identifying monthly contributors, but I could see where it might be a problem. Take the guy who mails in a check for $500, (and I've seen a couple of large donations mentioned as coming in via snail mail), or the person who does a one time credit card donation of a large amount vs the person who does a $10 monthly. I'm not saying one is more important than the other, we all give what we can, but JimRob might get some whining from those who gave big but just not monthly. Maybe it would work if all donors were identified the same way? Just a thought. I guess I, for one, did it because it made me feel good, (and maybe a little less guilty?) for all the time spent here.
Thanks for listening and BUMP!

Call it something like a "Patriot's Club," perhaps, for either a significant one time or monthly contribution?

I understand what you're saying terilyn, and I'm sure commonsense details could be worked out in reference to one time contributions.
The bottom line is that JimRob and his family need to have some financial stability to run this very expensive operation, and monthlies provide the security of a monthly base amount.
God bless those going without sleep and working at their computers day and night for weeks to raise funds every three months. What a difference it would make if everyone who loves FR would just contribute even $5.00 a month, or more if they could afford it.
This Free Republic website is too precious to lose.
To: gogeo
either a significant one time or monthly contribution Do it for any contribution, because all contributions are signifcant to the giver. Judging by the response so far it would still be an insignicant number of the registered.
