Cruz warns Texans will be hurt after blue tsunami

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) issued a stark warning on Wednesday evening after Democrats flipped a Texas Senate seat and the governor’s mansion in the midterm elections.

In a lengthy statement shared on social media, the GOP senator said that “Texans will be hurt” by the blue tsunami that swept across the state and country on Tuesday.

“Their assault on business will make Texas a much less attractive place to start or grow a small business,” he wrote. “Texas will become more like California if they succeed in halting all new investment into AI.”

State Reps. James Talarico and Gina Hinojosa became the first Democrats elected to the U.S. Senate and Texas governor’s office in decades in a stunning upset for Republicans in the Lone Star State on Election Day.

“Texas is blue. That is a hard sentence to utter,” Cruz wrote. “But Texas, today at least, is blue. As we sit here today, I am the only statewide elected Republican who remains in Texas. That’s not something I ever thought I would say.”

The Texas Republican and other prominent GOP leaders, including President Trump, backed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) in the Senate race. Talarico defeated the Republican nominee by over 12 percentage points, according to Decision Desk HQ.

Cruz said he spoke with the Democratic victor following his win on Tuesday evening to congratulate him “on his very impressive victory.”

“It was a pleasant conversation, and I told him that I looked forward to working with him to try to benefit Texas,” he said.

The Republican senator said his party will need to do “two things” in the next two years under new Democratic control of both chambers of Congress: “fight the madness” and “rebuild.”

Thank you very much and God bless you.

I anticipate that the Dems will be careful in Texas. For example, they won't try to grab everyone's guns. I don't think they'll put in an income tax either. They might block all new datacenters, which is unfortunate. Expanding "green energy" seems likely.

If they have a series of elections where they maintain control, then they would probably be more aggressive in putting leftist policies in place.

And Elon Musk recently moved his SpaceX and Tesla headquarters to Texas...

Looks like Florida is the place to go now. The closer you are to the equator the less energy you need to launch. Something for Elon Musk to consider.

Good.
They deserve what they’ve been voting for.

Not necessarily a Cruz fan, but yesterday he was reported to have predicted a possible Blue Wave in Texas, and a bunch of people here dismissed him because, well, he’s Ted Cruz.

Yes you’re supposed to attack anything Cruz says. Also DeSantis. There was an article posted here Monday where Cruz said he was “very worried” about the election. So about 90% of the comments were people mocking him, saying he’s a loser blah blah blah.

I am sure that DeSantis and Cruz have well-above-average IQs. The “conservatives” who despise them don’t.

The state constitution prohibits an income tax.

Perhaps, my prediction is with a Hispanic governor, the first overreach in Texas will an attempt to make Texas a sanctuary state, prevent state and local law enforcement from working with ICE, flood Texas with illegals and work to get the registered to vote, cementing their current electoral success.

Looks like Florida is the place to go now.

The GOP barely managed victories in Florida.

There are fewer and fewer states to escape to. Texas and Georgia are blue states now, due to demographic changes, and Florida is moving that way. I expect Florida to turn blue in 2028 or 2030.

Blue tsunami? WTH? Have they -already- counted the votes? Usually it takes a couple of weeks to get election results! /s

Amazing that they had results so quickly last night. I wonder what the difference was this year? /s
