A disease that health officials have described as the fastest-spreading on record in Africa shows no signs of slowing down, and may soon afflict those outside the continent.

The unprecedented spread of Ebola has resulted in thousands of cases, with Nigeria reporting its first case in more than a decade last month, and additional reports in Kenya and other African countries.

While the majority of cases are currently affecting those in Africa, health experts are warning that the situation could change and countries should start increasing preparedness now.

The repetitive reaction to news stories is tiresome, why shouldn’t this Ebola outbreak get covered?

This is one of the most easily avoided diseases out there.

It’s not easy to catch unless you are a complete moron (or are treating the infected).

With any populace that knows not to hug and kiss bleeding dead bodies, wear shoes, and not attack nurses providing care, any spread will be extremely limited.

Easy fix, stop all international travel for impaced countries, and quarantine those who recently visited those countries.

From what I understand, ebola by its nature is difficult to spread at pandemic levels.

Key takeaway
Gay relationships are not a cause or risk factor for Ebola. The virus spreads through direct contact with infected bodily fluids, not through sexual orientation. The main risks to gay communities during Ebola outbreaks have been social stigma and misinformation, not the virus itself. Accurate public health information and community education are essential to prevent both disease spread and discrimination

Ebola is fairly fast acting and is deadly, so it is difficult to spread when it comes to villages in Africa that are a day’s walk apart. The typical villager doesn’t make it very far.

Get some doctor or aid person in a car or an airplane though....

Easiest way to avoid Ebola is to ground all flights from Africa. If it saves one child it would be worth it

“””””From what I understand, ebola by its nature is difficult to spread at pandemic levels.”””””

Advanced societies should be able to control it fairly easy, we can follow instructions to isolate or avoid activities and react to symptoms if they show, and even if things got really bad our bathrooms and homes are very much suited to handling family members, we take ajaxed porcelain, and bleach, hot water, and laundry seriously, even without epidemics.

Easy fix,

**********

Not easy to do with the movement among the countries today.
Every thing we eat, clothes we wear, places we go, are also
being visited by others and thus at some point may come in
contact with the decease and spread it to others.

“stop all international travel for impaced countries, and quarantine those who recently visited those countries.”

From DRC , Uganda , S. Sudan for a while now. Upped to anyone who has set foot in them in the last 21 days. Ite tracked via digital passports, and cell phone pings, bank and atm/cc transactions too.

The United States has implemented strict travel restrictions and screening mandates in response to a major Ebola outbreak in Central Africa. [1] (https://www.cdc.gov/ebola/situation-summary/index.html)

Mandatory Ebola Attestation for All Flights

Beginning November 3, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. EST, every passenger boarding an international flight to the United States from any country must sign a digital or paper attestation. This mandate applies universally, including to U.S. citizens, permanent residents (Green Card holders), and airline crew members. [1] (https://www.cdc.gov/port-health/legal-authorities/attestation-order.html), [2] (https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/10/27/2026-21828/requirement-for-attestation-for-all-airline-or-other-aircraft-passengers-arriving-in-the-united), [3] (https://nbaa.org/aircraft-operations/international/africa/cdc-announces-ebola-attestation-requirement-for-all-flights-to-the-united-states/), [4] (https://www.foxnews.com/travel/deadly-disease-sparks-new-cdc-rule-us-bound-flyers-major-airlines-seek-delay)
Travelers must formally state that they have not been present in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) (https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=%2Fm%2F088xp) within the past 21 days. This 21-day window matches the maximum incubation period of the virus. Airlines are legally required to collect these forms during check-in, and anyone who refuses to sign will be denied boarding. [1] (https://www.cdc.gov/ebola/situation-summary/returning-travelers.html), [2] (https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/2026/10/30/ebola-democratic-republic-congo-cdc-flights/92512982007/), [3] (https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/10/27/2026-21828/requirement-for-attestation-for-all-airline-or-other-aircraft-passengers-arriving-in-the-united), [4] (https://www.cdc.gov/port-health/legal-authorities/attestation-order.html)

Restrictions by Specific Country

Restrictions vary based on citizenship and recent travel history: [1] (https://www.cdc.gov/ebola/situation-summary/returning-travelers.html)
• Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) (https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=%2Fm%2F088xp):
• Commercial flights to the U.S. are blocked for anyone who has been in the DRC (https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=%2Fm%2F088xp) within the past 21 days, including U.S. citizens.
• Any presence, including layovers or remaining on an aircraft during a stop, counts as visiting the country, requiring travelers to wait 21 days outside the U.S. before entry. [1] (https://travel.state.gov/en/international-travel/travel-advisories/global-events/ebola_additional_information.html), [2] (https://www.fragomen.com/insights/cdc-extends-entry-ban-for-foreign-nationals-recently-in-dr-congo-uganda-or-south-sudan-for-another-30-days-us-citizen-travel-restrictions-remain-in-effect.html), [3] (https://www.cdc.gov/ebola/situation-summary/returning-travelers.html), [4] (https://www.facebook.com/sassyfunke/posts/flying-to-the-us-theres-a-new-step-at-check-in-from-4-nov-every-passenger-flying/1541581237775332/)
• Uganda (https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=%2Fm%2F07tp2) and South Sudan (https://www.google.com/search?kgmid=%2Fm%2F05rznz):
• Non-U.S. citizens and non-U.S. nationals (including permanent residents) with recent presence in these nations are barred from entry until 21 days have passed.
• U.S. citizens and nationals are allowed entry but must reroute through designated U.S. airports (such as IAD, ATL, and JFK) for enhanced health screening and temperature checks. [1] (https://www.facebook.com/newyork/posts/-travelling-to-new-york-new-us-entry-rules-take-effect-on-3-november-2026-%EF%B8%8Fdue-t/1566485845524153/), [2] (https://www.cdc.gov/ebola/situation-summary/returning-travelers.html)

After-Arrival Health Monitoring

The CDC requires a 21-day symptom monitoring period for permitted arrivals from outbreak zones. Automated text messages track symptoms like fever, aches, and gastrointestinal issues, requiring immediate isolation and public health contact if symptoms appear.
