US President Donald Trump said Friday that Iran was seeking negotiations with Washington and facing serious internal difficulties, hours after predicting that the war between the two countries would soon come to an end.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said Tehran was continuing to pursue talks while struggling to meet its financial obligations to security personnel.
"There are talks. They want to talk. They keep talking. They're not paying their soldiers. They're not paying their police. They're in a lot of trouble."
The President also suggested that Washington was not under immediate pressure to bring the conflict to a conclusion.
"We have time, frankly. It's a war, but it is not a typical war."
Earlier Friday, Trump told Kansas City radio station KCMO that the military confrontation with Iran was approaching its conclusion, although he did not provide a timetable or explain how an agreement might be reached.

Reverse taqiyah.
Don’t fall into their trap. They’ll agree to whatever they have to agree to to get us to stop attacking them, but they have no intention of actually doing any of it. And they know that if the Dhimmicraps get the majority, they’ll tie President trump’s hands.
Soon? Again? This is bleeding voters for the GOP. First and foremost, the IRGC have nothing but contempt for us, and lie as easily as they breathe. I’d prefer they do neither.
I would at least take them hostage - in retribution for all of the American hostages Iran took and held.
No talks. NOW is when you turn up the heat. Start “micro” targeting the IRGC. Make being affiliated with the IRGC a death sentence.

• May 20, 2026 (Trump): “They want to make a deal so badly, they’re tired of — this should have happened for 47 years.”
• May 6–7, 2026 (Trump): “They want to make a deal, they want to negotiate… We’re doing very well in Iran. It’s going very smoothly… They want to make a deal. We’ve had very good talks over the last 24 hours, and it’s very possible that we’ll make a deal.”
• May 2026 (Trump at a Cabinet meeting): Iran is “negotiating on fumes.” • March 14, 2026 (Trump, phone call/interview): “Iran wants to make a deal, and I don’t want to make it because the terms aren’t good enough yet.”
• March 5, 2026 (Trump): “They’re calling. They’re saying, how do we make a deal?… I said, you’re being a little bit late.”
• March 2026 (Trump, NRCC event): “They are negotiating, by the way, and they want to make a deal so badly, but they’re afraid to say it.”
I had to check the date of this article. The Headline could have been written last April. Or May. Maybe June, July, August. Etc.
He’s just trying to calm the markets and the electorate to give us the best chance in the midterms. Nothing new. He knows the enemy will never agree to our terms.
I think Trump knows what contingency plans there are for further development or for ruling out altogether. With situational awareness being in flux, he has to cover all the bases. Knowledge going forward will steer him in the right direction.
He's been tap dancing so much with the Iranians, I see potential waltzes with the Democrats.
Fool me once...
When Trump says “they” want to make a deal, he’s talking about different groups each time. The power structure in Iran is constantly changing.
The USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group has wrapped up its exercises in Japan, and is on orders to sail to the Persian Gulf.
Call it about three weeks of sailing time.
The two CSGs already on station could start an intense bombing campaign anytime, and sustain the tempo, until the Roosevelt arrives with a full munitions load and fresh flight crews.
There is a big gun at the head of the Iranian regime.
True. And the enemy will never even agree to THEIR terms either.
What's sad is that while Iran will never agree to a deal, Trump is eager to accept their terms. Even at great risk to the US.
Case in point: The MOU from last June.
If they’re about to collapse let them idiot Trump!
If they’re about to collapse let them idiot Trump!
Yeah,whatever
“This is bleeding voters for the GOP.”
Unless the administration is lying, and that can easily be proven, then it is real. The administration has been working like he— to get them to the tables since before the conflict started. The Iranians selected the time they were willing to start to talk and will get diplomatic immunity to do so. Do I think they are up front? Nope. But we keep trying.
So it has nothing to do with the election and won’t help any of the candidates that are in it. The POTUS and VPOTUS are not up for election and the congress people that are have already sealed their fate with their voters rections to their actions. Congress has very little to do with Iran and the conflict other than get the funds for it. And the folks at the pentagon are not candidates.
