Questions The Media Should Be Asking Democrats About Affordability
American Thinker ^ | 10/30/26 | Jack Hellner

Democrats promise to lower costs, but journalists rarely ask them to explain their policies—or account for the soaring prices under Biden.

Two things are missing from almost every media report attacking President Trump over affordability: acknowledgment that Democrats supported Biden’s policies during the inflation surge, which left Americans paying substantially higher prices, and any serious examination of which Democrat policies would actually make life more affordable.

If Democrats regain power, their policies could make things worse. According to a recent article, House Democrat Leader Hakeem Jeffries promises to lower grocery, gasoline, housing, and health care costs. “We are explicitly promising to fight for an affordable America,” he said.

Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer similarly promises to lower costs while keeping Trump in check. HOW?

Wouldn’t good journalists ask Jeffries and Schumer which Biden policies they would change and what new policies they would propose? Since journalists seem reluctant to ask these questions, here are some suggestions.

Let’s start with the economy and inflation.

I think he has a different definition of affordable than most people do

When it comes to housing, some of the least affordable places in America are places where Democrats are in control politically.

And a deeper dive, will show that Democrat land use and zoning policies are a major contributor to expensive housing in those places.

Yet we’re supposed to believe that Democrat political rule will help with affordability?????

Among the most expensive gasoline in America is found in Democrat dominated California. California gas taxes are perhaps the highest of any state. Yet Gavin Newsom says Calif. gas prices are high because oil companies are gouging people in California.

Why aren’t they gouging people in other states to that degree, if California gas is really high due to price gouging?

“We are explicitly promising to fight for an affordable America”

Like you did for the AFFORDABLE care act?

They ALWAYS promise a more affordable city, state, and country, but they never deliver, do they?

Give democrats the reins of power over a city or state and they make it much too expensive to live and survive for everyone except the rich and wealthy. The top most expensive cities are all controlled by Democrats. DC, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, Denver, Chicago, etc.

To the dumb, it’s all about gas prices.

To the hi IQ voter, we realize that costs go up because of higher taxes, higher fees, forced higher wages, red tape, regulations, higher tolls, printing money, corruption and yes oil.
It’s not just one thing- most of this crap is from these socialist policies - that the complainer will vote for again to “lower prices”.

Here is one:

QUESTION: "If it is true that for $100 worth of things purchased during the start of the Biden Administration, that today it costs $129 to purchase during the Trump Administration, and if $21 of that $29 increase was directly attributable to Democrat actions and policies, why should Americans vote for any Democrat on November 3rd?

And yet, nobody seems able to define “affordability”. To the Democrat Socialists, it is subsidies and rationing, or simply prohibition of certain actions, or possession of goods, or access to services on the part of individuals.

Real affordability is actually a set of ratios that society has agreed upon, based on the estimated annual income of the individual, and takes into consideration the productivity of that individual in creating wealth, either by the sweat of the brow, or the machinations of intellect. Such and such a percentage of the total gross annual income is apportioned to food, housing, personal investments, lendable capital, and self-improvement, and so long as the individual is satisfied with the personal satisfaction achieved, all these things are “affordable”.

This concept is not at all understood by the Democratic Socialists, or anybody else with socialistic leanings. They think that all capital must be distributed according to the “greater good”, but they have no clue as to HOW the capital is generated in the first place, or that the individual has any rights whatsoever in determining how this capital shall be applied, and that those enterprises that are permitted can survive on subsidies from the largesse confiscated from the achievers who started the collection and investment of the capital. Activities or goods that are prohibited or restricted are managed by a crippling rate of taxation or rationing, which is supposed to be the source of the income the socialists plan to distribute to the greater part of the society, as a “reward”, or withheld to bring the recalcitrant into conformity.

Guaranteed to fail on some level or another, without the application of police power to compel the acceptance of the demands of the governing council of the socialist elite.

Commiefornia has been run by demonicRATS for the last 30 years and it's the most unaffordable State to live in. This country can't afford 50 Commiefornias.

So all you "gas prices are too high" Trump hating FReeptards can stuff that in your bong and smoke it. Or vape pens or whatever you use.
