Weiss addressed the NYT bombshell report at Thursday's network-wide morning meeting
===============================================================
EXCLUSIVE — CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss faced "significant resistance" from staff at Thursday's 9 a.m. meeting about the growing Alaska ballot controversy, network insiders told Fox News Digital.
"This is a scandal," Weiss declared to staff.
According to multiple sources on the call, several CBS News staffers pushed back at Weiss' enthusiasm over the bombshell New York Times report alleging Democrats schemed to find a Dan Sullivan to run against incumbent Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan, in hopes of aiding Democratic opponent Mary Peltola.
Many on the call shrugged it off as routine politics and said Republicans have also engaged in similar scheming.
When Weiss asked for other examples of ballot confusion, "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan pointed to New Hampshire Senate candidate John Sununu, suggesting that midterm voters might confuse him with his brother, former New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu.
CBS News political correspondent Ed O'Keefe also insisted that such tactics are nothing new. Earlier that morning, during his appearance on "CBS Mornings," O'Keefe stressed to viewers that what happened in Alaska "could be a dirty trick, but it's not illegal," adding that "this has happened before, kind of." He pointed to the 2016 Alaska Senate race when former Anchorage mayor Dan Sullivan — no relation to the U.S. Senator of the same name — briefly ran against incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski in the GOP primary, hoping "name recognition" of the other sitting senator would help his own candidacy.
A separate CBS staffer on the call pushed back against the notion that colleagues like Brennan and O'Keefe were trying to downplay the scandal, telling Fox News Digital they were providing context to the story being discussed.

Cannot trust the news reporting any more than we can trust the polling. Recall Hunter Bidens pollster pal appearing in his laptop emails.
“...moderator Margaret Brennan pointed to New Hampshire Senate candidate John Sununu, suggesting that midterm voters might confuse him with his brother, former New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu.”
That attempted analogy is imbecilic.
Consider the source................
Communist
Babies
Crying
As far as I can tell, Bari Weiss is failing in her attempt to transform CBS into a legitimate news organization.
“When Weiss asked for other examples of ballot confusion, “Face the Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan pointed to New Hampshire Senate candidate John Sununu, suggesting that midterm voters might confuse him with his brother, former New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu.”
Did they ever run against each other? NO
Did the Democrats have anything to do with it? NO
Is that the best bitch can come up with? Pretty crappy analogy, in my opinion.
Is it fair to ask voters to distinguish one RINO from another?
It’s not for lack of trying.
She faces an entrenched communist bureaucracy of seasoned reporters (I refuse to call them ‘journalists’)................
They are propagandists.
That they are, but they are never ‘journalists’.
Earnest Hemmingway was a journalist...............
“She faces an entrenched communist bureaucracy of seasoned reporters (I refuse to call them ‘journalists’).”
But don’t a lot of teenage girls keep a journal? The ones at CBS could certainly be called “journalists” for that reason.
A mean girl’s diary full of fantasies isn’t exactly a ‘journal’............
“Many on the call shrugged it off as routine politics and said Republicans have also engaged in similar scheming”
No evidence provided of course....because it’s a damnable lie.
I really hate these people
The Dems like to push the narrative that John Sununu is mentioned in the Epstein files as “having a lot of good stories”.
IMHO, this reference is to his FATHER. Not the son(also John) running for Senator.
John’s brother Chris could have EASILY won against Maggie Hassan two years ago. Who is a dope. He had a 75% or more approval rating as Governor. He was very popular and a generally likable guy. I have met both. As has my wife and daughter.
Chris is a people person. John is not.
Chris said his family did not want him to run for Senate and move to DC. He had a falling out with Trump when he supported Bird Brain instead of the Don. The rumor was IF Bird Brain had won the GOP POTUS nominee, Chris was going to be her VP. Chris is now CEO of American Airlines. Probably making slightly more than a US Senator.
So you doubt the pack of rat propagandists at CBS resisted covering the BS the Democrats pulled Alaska because the article came FNC? Do l have that right?
Don’t be silly. I was referring to Margaret Brennan................
What I find most unbelievable is the NYT broke the story.
Put the news division to the curb, never to be seen or heard again in any form. It can’t be fixed.
Just a year earlier, in 2003, Illinois’ Republican governor George Ryan was indicted for accepting bribes and other crimes, and he was eventually convicted and sentenced to prison.
Jack Ryan’s ex- wife was actress Jeri Ryan, of Star Trek Voyager fame. It was a huge scandal when confidential files were released showing that she divorced her husband after he tried to get her into a “sex club”.
Apparently it was a Democrat dirty tricks operation that saw to it that those files were released.
Back then I was livid that the Republicans here in Illinois would be so stupid as to support someone named Ryan for the Senate against Obama, after Governor Ryan went to jail.
Of course, Obama went on to enjoy a landslide victory.
The feckless Republicans in this state trotted in Alan Keyes in a desperate attempt to run against Obama, but to no avail, that move failed miserably.
This name association thing has been done before.
