How Bolsonaro Fled Brazil: Decoys, a Private Jet and a Friend in the White House

After losing Brazil’s election, Flávio Bolsonaro fled to Miami in an elaborate operation aided by Trump’s inner circle and Argentina’s president

Less than 24 hours after losing Brazil’s presidential election, Flávio Bolsonaro appeared to vanish into a convoy of four dark cars.

After pulling away from his home in Brasília on Monday evening, the vehicles split in different directions, leaving journalists and authorities scrambling to determine which one carried Bolsonaro. By the next afternoon, the former presidential candidate’s allies were telling reporters he had already reached Florida.

As Brazilian and international outlets reported that Bolsonaro had left the country, he was still in Brazil, while a private jet waited for him across the border in Argentina. At 12:21 a.m. Wednesday, the Gulfstream G400 took off from Puerto Iguazú and whisked him to Ecuador and then Miami, where his entry was facilitated by Trump allies his family spent years cultivating.

The getaway—which relied heavily on deception and decoys—sparked a global guessing game that left even some of Bolsonaro’s closest allies in Washington and Brazil in the dark about his whereabouts.

After Bolsonaro stepped off the plane in Miami on Wednesday morning wearing a navy polo shirt and a backpack, uniformed officers used umbrellas to shield him and his family from cameras. Their arrival followed an extraordinary effort by a small circle of influential Trump allies, senior U.S. officials and Argentine President Javier Milei to help him fly to the U.S. and secure entry, despite a Brazilian court order barring Bolsonaro from leaving the country.

Referring to himself as the “leader of Brazil,” Bolsonaro thanked President Trump for welcoming him to a “land of freedoms” and Milei for his “courage” and “sense of justice” in a statement from Miami Wednesday.

After Trump personally approved admitting Bolsonaro and...

Nothing says "democracy" like forcing your political opponents to flee for their lives.

He didn’t lose the election.

And neither did Trump in 2020.

The truth of that depends on your definition of “losing”.

👏 👏 👏 Well done, WSJ. Good job. Now do how Ilhan Elmi became Ilhan Omar and escaped Somalia and ended up in the US Congress. She must’ve had a friend somewhere, no?

I don’t know much about the election. But wad listening to a podcast. It might’ve been Michael Savage. I can’t remember this morning and he said that it was ““ an alleged win by the communist leaning candidate.

The WSJ is such trash media now. They can’t cover a story or produce news information without little snide comments.

I remember discussions with a retarded liberal co-worker in 2020. “But all the recounts in the close states still showed Biden winning so how can you say it was rigged?”

I said, if I give you a stack of counterfeit $100 bills, you can count and recount the total a thousand times to verify the amount, but that still doesn’t make them legitimate.

I’m surprised the WH didn’t stage it better with the guy kissing the tarmac. Still the father may be paying the price with his house arrest.

Democracy sucks buttermilk, it is a republican form of governance, faith based, that gives liberty.

Staying because your father is held hostage hoping hoping the evil ones will allow you both to live is NOT an optimal strategy.

The net gain in this case is we are supporting democratic governance....also unlike all the fake asylum claims by economic migrants, there is no question the Bolsonaro’s are real political asylum seekers.

We are talking about Brazil.

Does Brazil have “a republican form of governance, faith based, that gives liberty?”

What is the net gain of us taking in another immgirant [sic]?

This is precisely the situation for which the concept of asylum should be used; not 100,000 Somalians "fleeing" so they can take over cities and steal billions of government dollars and open Learing Centers, not 40,000,000 miscreants worldwide wading across the Rio Grande to take over practically all of our cities and stealing multiple billions of government dollars and drowning our young in drugs and fraudulently voting, not half a million H1Bs who steal American jobs and wreck the tech economy. Let's keep the one good apple and dispose of the inedible rest.

I have been to Brazil for a project, have had many Brazilian colleagues, and love that country.

I have no wish for Brazil to descend into dictatorship!

Welcome to Flávio Bolsonaro!

He should quickly obtain US citizenship so Trump can appoint him ambassador to Brazil. Diplomatic immunity.
