Rick Jackson sounds alarm over sluggish rural early voting

Republican Rick Jackson is sounding the alarm over sluggish early voting across deep-red rural Georgia, warning that complacency in GOP strongholds could jeopardize his bid for governor.

At a campaign stop Tuesday night in Calhoun, the billionaire nominee was surprisingly candid about his party’s struggles.

“I’m concerned,” he said. “I am concerned that rural Georgia still thinks we’re red and therefore they look at somebody like myself and my opponent and just say, ‘Well, there’s no comparison.’”

His worry is that reliable Republican voters are taking victory over Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms for granted. Democratic-leaning areas are far outpacing GOP-leaning areas during early voting.

“We’re dealing with a more generic environmental problem for Republicans,” he said. “We have to overperform in rural Georgia or we’re not going to win. It is that important.”

Jackson is working to boost the turnout. He announced a slate of Friday visits to GOP-friendly exurbs. And he’s bringing in U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz for a Friday evening rally in Henry County, where Democrats are optimistic about their early voting numbers.

GOP is holding its own in PA. -308 K right now. Less than at this point in 2022.

Georgia really has rat inclinations. They should be reliably red but they are far from it.

18 million people have voted early so far. The Democrat-Republican voting split is nearly identical to the early vote in 2022. So far there is zero blue wave. Numbers are nearly identical to 2022, when Republicans won the nationwide popular vote. Keep voting!— Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) October 22, 2026

How many hands does a mail-in vote pass through ?

Every single hand that touches it is a potential veto.

And it’s happened many times before.

I’ve read good things for the GOP in Pennsylvania as well in early voting...

Those women could be death of the republic. Irredeemable, unreachable and completely brain washed.

Why is “early voting” even a thing? Why should it matter? What happened to voting on Election Day, and having results by 2:00 AM at the latest?

The whole thing is a sick joke.

>He announced a slate of Friday visits to GOP-friendly exurbs.

He’s coming near me tomorrow. No reason to go, don’t like crowds, already have something quasi-political happening, and we already early voted Tuesday.

If GA votes for Keisha Lance Bottoms, we’re toast. She’s a disaster, let Atlanta burn in the Summer of Love 2020. I don’t think the state will.
