Socialism Isn’t Just Deadly—It’s Soul-Crushing
Daily Signal ^ | 21 October 2026 | Liaana Graham and Ashley Reese

Far-left political influencer Hasan Piker was recently grilled on a satirical internet show—and the clips it generated were gold.

“Now, Karl Marx said, ‘To each according to his needs.’ You live in a $2.7 million house,” the host said. “Why are your needs more important than 90% of other Californians?”

Piker appeared uncomfortable as he answered—and it wasn’t because he was fully decked out in a Mao suit.

To put it simply, proudly sporting the uniform of a regime that took the lives of an estimated 80 million people, all while enjoying the prosperity of a $2.7 million house and invitations to Oscar parties, isn’t a good look.

But of the socialist states Piker views favorably, former Yugoslavia arguably ranks among the highest. He once published a video titled “Yugoslavia Was Awesome!” in which he praised aspects of the former socialist country, including its living standards.

That idea might seem laughable to survivors like Slavenka Drakulic—literally.

In 1992, she published her book “How We Survived Communism and Even Laughed,” which recounts the stories of daily life under communism in Eastern Europe. While Piker may shrug off the textbook figures on communism’s death tolls, he may be less familiar with one of its nearly invisible effects: the subtle erosion of human dignity, hope, and personal responsibility.

Socialism and Communism are based on lies - which the uninformed, ill educated and “low information” voters buy into - punish the rich, make them pay their fair share, take their property, free everything for everyone - that was the promise of the Bolsheviks that “won” the Russian Revolution and took power.

The downside of socialism/communism, of course, is not taught in American schools - death and destruction.

Deaths before “Soviet workers’ paradise” imploded in on itself?

≈ up to 66 million dead.

Famines: The Holodomor (Ukraine) and other famines are estimated to have caused 3 to 7 million deaths.

Executions: Official archives record approximately 800,000 to 1.2 million executions between 1921 and 1953.

Gulag and Deportations: Estimates for deaths in labor camps and during forced resettlement range from 1.5 to 3 million.

All socialists dream they would be the controlling one percent. Most would be the fifty percent that would be purged with a bullet to the back of the head.

Probably. The cheapest condos in the worst neighborhoods in L.A. start at $600k. A normal three bedroom, two bathroom house that would be $250K in any normal town is $1.2M to start.

It forces the most ambitious people in the population to join the party, to realize their ambition.

I’m a fan of Shostakovich. Here is a clip from his Wiki page:

“ 1936 marked the beginning of the , in which many of Shostakovich’s friends and relatives were imprisoned or killed. These included Tukhachevsky, executed 12 June 1937; his brother-in-law , who was eventually released but died before he returned home; his close friend , a musicologist who had taught Tukhachevsky, was executed; his mother-in-law, the astronomer [], who was sent to a camp in and later released; his friend the Marxist writer , who spent 20 years in the ; his uncle Maxim Kostrykin (died); and his colleagues (executed).

The cornerstone of socialism - that without which none of what it promises could possibly happen - is confiscating wealth from people against their will, under threat of incarceration and by force if necessary, to provide for the lazy and unproductive.

Why is Charlie Kirk dead by a faggot assassin’s bullet while this pile of satan’s excrement is still aboveground and breathing? It’s a mystery.

We had neighbors when I was growing up who fled China right before the revolution - they were able to flee but their families weren’t - they had money and property and lost everything, lucky to escape with their lives.

The mother always looked so sad and never learned to speak English well, the father did well for himself, his sons as well after such a devastating loss.

Three room wooden shacks in the hills above Palo Alto were going for $2 million in the early 2000’s. Dot.com millenials were buying them, having them bulldozed, and then building 10 million dollar houses on the property.

Not true. Communist countries had “Anti-Parasite” laws that would allow the arrest of anyone who didn’t have a job.
