I think Trump and Israel are aiming at finishing the job.
That means regime change. But no nation-building though - that never works.
Only regime change will give America an absolute victory.

Got a notification today announcing that 4 APOs in Iraq and two Diplomatic post offices (DPOs) have suspended operations. I don’t know to what extent this indicates the level of operations against IRGC/Iran... But I do agree that something major is about to take place.
Sorry but the only regime change will occur within the US in two weeks. Trump squandered his chance for a definitive victory in Iran after the first two weeks of the war. At that time the mullah regime was reeling and the Iranian Kurds, no strangers to hard fighting were willing to lead an open revolt against the mullahs and ally with the aggrieved Iranian urban protesters. Trump backed off incredibly because the Turks threatened to enter the war on behalf of the mullahs. The Turks feared a Kurdistan carved out of Western Iran. It didn’t take long for the lunatic America hating Democrats to politically seize the moment. America’s fate is determined by the muddled middle 15% of voters that sway elections. All they know is that gas and groceries cost more (thanks to this war), they blame Trump and will vote for the America hating ,lunatic Democrats. The globalists are smiling.

I don’t know why Trump did that at that moment. As you said maybe because of pressure from the Turks. But I don’t think it’s the only reason.
It looks like Trumps only chance to retain Congress is a successful regime change in Iran.
However, few Moab bombs scratching dust on top of a mountain won’t do much - except maybe giving some PR point that America did something.
America needs the Kurds if it wants to win. With no regime change in Iran, no win.

It looks to me like we are going to scorched earth on vital facilities in Iran, then declare victory and leave. Let Israel do whatever they want afterwards.
Our bases in the Middle East are simply too vulnerable to missile and drone attacks. We cannot keep a substantial logistics presence there.
We have set Iran's naval and air forces to zero. They still have an army. They still have some missile and drone forces and coastal anti-ship forces. We have wrecked most of that stuff, but they can regenerate it pretty quickly if we let up on them.
They are getting help from Russia and China. I speculate that some of the "make-nice" posturing from Trump to Russia and China is about putting a stop to that help. He is waving possible deals in front of them. I cannot tell if they are going for any of it.
The IRGC still owns Iran in spite of losing 80% of their original leaders. That's another system that regenerates quickly if it is not fully and quickly destroyed. It's basically an organized crime operation that runs most of the country. There is a very large supply of younger men who are willing to step up and replace the previous leaders. We need to kill five or six levels of them to put an end to it.
I don't see that happening in the next two weeks.
I am watching for the "October Surprise". It's running late. I believe the election is already settled, and we are only waiting for the reveal. Did the "Big Cheat" work again, or did we actually have mostly fair elections. I don't know yet.
I already voted, for what that is worth. So did everybody I know.
