President Donald Trump will rally Michigan supporters in St. Clair County on Saturday – nine days before the Nov. 3 election.
The city of Port Huron said the event will be the first presidential visit in county history.
Trump is expected to stump for Michigan Republicans near Canada amid a trade war with that country.
President Donald Trump is set to return to Michigan nine days before the pivotal midterm election — and one day after former President Barack Obama rallies with Democrats in Detroit.
Trump will rally supporters in St. Clair County on Sunday, the Republican National Committee announced.
A location has not yet been disclosed, but the city of Port Huron said that the event will take place downtown at the McMorran Place Arena. The city said it would be the first presidential visit in St. Clair County’s history.
The county is part of US Rep. Lisa McClain’s district, a ruby-red part of the state — Trump won two-thirds of the vote there in 2024 — and not a significant battleground in the Nov. 3 general election.
It does neighbor Macomb County, where a number of consequential races of the US House and state legislature are staked, and is also near Canada, which is located on the other side of the St. Clair River.
Trump has sparked a trade war with Canada by imposing steep tariffs that prompted counter-tariffs by Canada, which is Michigan’s largest international trade partner.
Michigan’s US Senate race is almost certain to take center stage at the rally. Democrat Abdul El-Sayed and Republican Mike Rogers are locked in a close battle for the seat being vacated by retiring US Sen. Gary Peters. The race recently became the most expensive in state history.
Rogers supported Trump’s tariff strategy but recently called for an end to the trade war with Canada. The president said he took that to mean Rogers “wanted Canada to make a deal.”
Confirmation of Trump’s pending visit followed weeks of uncertainty over whether he would campaign in Michigan ahead the midterm.
The president’s approval numbers in Michigan are near historic lows, and Democrats have sought to make the election a referendum on the first two years of Trump’s second term. He last visited Michigan ahead of the primary in late July.
That rally also featured Republican gubernatorial candidate John James, who went on to easily win the primary. Trailing in the polls, James last week lamented the focus on Trump in the election to lead state government.
“We’re losing our kids, and y’all are focusing on some dude in Washington, D.C. that’s going to be done in two years? We are smarter than that,” James said, telling reporters, “we have to pull our heads out of our backside.”
Bridge Michigan recently revisited a host of campaign promises Trump made during Michigan rallies in 2024 to assess his progress on those pledges.
Obama will rally with El-Sayed, gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson and other Michigan Democrats on Saturday in Detroit.

Do you think we could sell Detroit back to the French? Never mind, they already have riots, fires, thuggery...
Will interesting to see how many show up for the imposter’s rally.

The same venue would dot it comparison-wise. Port Huron was the venue where the Great Society came about accoeding to the Amity Schlaes book The Great Society. I don’t believe it was as good as the Forgotten American.
Would imagine the location was chosen as it adjacent to the notorious red/blue, populated Macomb County. It certainly will be a bellwether county on how MI goes on election day.
