In a statement Sunday, the former president said the administration is targeting the Minnesota Democrat based on her political beliefs.
Former president Barack Obama denounced the Trump administration’s investigation of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota), saying Sunday that any use of federal power to punish a critic of the president violates democratic principles.
“The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president,” he said in a social media post. “The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views.”
The Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations searched Omar’s D.C. home last week with a court-authorized warrant secured by the Department of Justice, in an escalation of long-running efforts by Trump and other Republicans to challenge her citizenship.

A 2019 review, during Trump’s first administration, found insufficient evidence of wrongdoing and did not pursue a full investigation, The Post reported.
Obama said Omar automatically became a citizen at 17 when her father was naturalized, and he accused the Trump administration of working to undo her citizenship based on an unsubstantiated theory about her age.
Omar’s lawyers alleged Friday that federal authorities ignored key restrictions that a judge had placed on the search of her home — a claim the Justice Department denies.
Obama, too, faced false claims about his citizenship during his time in public office, including from Trump, who promoted...

Obama set up the Somalia cash train
It does fill me with outrage that she was allowed to get away with this fraud for this long.
It outrages me that it was not done sooner.
Started under Biden, ya nincompoop.
Here are direct Obama quotes:
Campaign speech on civil liberties (2007, as a presidential candidate): “Because in America — no one is above the law.” He said it while calling for restoring the Constitution and the rule of law. (scienceblogs)
Law Day statement (May 1, 2007, as a senator): Obama praised America’s heritage as “a nation where everyone is equal before the law and no one is above it.” He went on to criticize the Bush administration over the U.S. attorney firings and Guantanamo. (ucsb)
Attributed quote (context unverified): “I think a basic principle of our Constitution is nobody above the law.” This one comes from a quote-aggregator site, so I’d confirm the original before citing it. (quotlr)

The first thought I have is fraud, not political beliefs.

“...Obama, too, faced false claims about his citizenship...”
Not necessarily “false”....
“The seriousness of the charge mandates that we investigate this.” ~ Former Speaker of the House, Tom Foley (D-WA)
I’m not outraged. I like it.
