The Justice Department under the Biden administration opened an investigation into Representative Ilhan Omar, Democrat of Minnesota, in 2024 to scrutinize her finances, campaign spending and interactions with a foreign citizen, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
The inquiry, initiated by the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington and the department’s public integrity unit in June of that year, appears to have stalled for lack of evidence, according to one of the people who requested anonymity to discuss internal department matters.
The investigation appeared to be thrust into the public spotlight on Monday, when President Trump blindsided department officials by posting about it on Truth Social, singling out Ms. Omar. It was part of a rambling statement announcing a shake-up of the team overseeing immigration raids in Ms. Omar’s Minneapolis district that misspelled her name.
“The DOJ and Congress are looking at ‘Congresswoman’ Illhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars,” he wrote. “Time will tell all.”

She corrected her official congressional disclosures to show that Rep Omar’s actual net worth is estimated to be under $100,000 (between -$40,000 and $115,000).....not the multi $millions she originally disclosed.

Omar “missed” a May 5, 2026, deadline set by the Minnesota House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee to turn over communications related to the $250 million Feeding Our Future child nutrition fraud scandal.
The committee demanded that Omar hand over all text messages, emails, and electronic correspondence linked to individuals and entities involved in the case—specifically including the Safari Restaurant and accused or convicted figures—by May 5, 2026.
Omar did not meet the deadline, declined to attend the committee’s hearings, and has denied any wrongdoing or prior knowledge of the fraud. Critics point to her sponsorship of the federal MEALS Act, which they argue eased restrictions during the pandemic.
Democratic-Farmer-Labor committee members have blocked attempts to subpoena her records.
Following her failure to comply, a committee motion to issue a formal subpoena for her documents failed on a split party-line vote (5-3), as six votes were required to pass.
The DHS division that investigated Omar and conducted the search warrant was the DHS division that investigates child trafficking. There may be more to come in this story.
I remember reading that the DOJ under Bidet DID find immigration fraud but declined to prosecute.

I’m absolutely sure that the Biden investigation into Omar was a shakedown for a big fat donation to the Biden-Harris reelection campaign fund. The check cleared in June, and that when the investigation ‘stalled’.
