Zelensky praises ‘real leaders’ in Europe as his relationship with Trump deteriorates

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky praised “real leaders” in Europe at a summit in Belgium on Friday, taking a veiled swipe at US President Donald Trump amid testy relations between Kyiv and Washington.

European leaders are rallying around Zelensky after the White House heaped pressure on Ukraine to halt strikes on Russian oil facilities, even as Russia’s attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure continue unabated.

After halting strikes on Russian oil refineries for three days at the request of the United States, Zelensky said he would resume those attacks given Russia didn’t adhere to US President Donald Trump’s so-called “energy ceasefire.”

Trump, who is desperate for soaring global diesel prices to ease ahead of next month’s midterm elections, blindsided European leaders last week when he struck a deal allowing Russian diesel exports, a move Zelensky said had left him feeling betrayed.

The US president has blamed the rise in fuel prices on the Ukraine-Russia war, eager to deflect attention from his war in Iran which remains deeply unpopular with voters.

So Zelensky has no problem with Europe continuing to buy billions in Russian energy products since the war started.

How odd...

If the Republicans hold the House and Senate, and if someone in Ukraine bumps off Zelensky, I think a peace deal would be signed within about a week.

I’ll say it again for the brain dead all in Ukraine supporters here. This entire episode is a ploy by the European leaders to assist the Democrats in the midterms and to weaken Trump.

The insanity of it is that Europe and Ukraine depend almost entirely on United States weaponry and Ukraine cannot possibly survive without the support of the United States.

There is no way Zelensky would have undertaken this strategy at this time without it being an attempt to influence the midterms.

They ALL know that and revel in their TDS activism. From their posts it’s apparent that they despise Trump and Americans in general.

If Z were a character in a movie he would be Philip Tattaglia in The Godfather.

Right now France, Belgium, and Albania are burning with no end in sight. More than likely, it will spread to other countries in Europe. Also, they are going broke supporting Ukraine in the war, along with letting in millions of 3rd worlders and giving them all free money.

Europe needs some “real” leaders.

At this time? Ukraine has been seriously attacking Russian refineries for the last year (since Nov 2025). Zelensky agreed to a energy ceasefire for three days, while Russia who never agreed to the ceasefire is continually pounding Ukraine's energy infrastructure.

And even if Ukraine completely stops all attack on Russian refineries what will be the impact? A few pennies.

It ain’t Trump that’s playing 5D chess right now its Putin. After a couple of hours talking to Trump he hands him a lifeline of exporting diesel to the US where just three weeks ago Trump signed the Graham Sanctioning Russia Act, which punishes countries for buying russian crude.

Bottom line: Russia once supplied nearly half of the EU’s imported natural gas and roughly a quarter of its crude oil. Today those shares are approximately 12% and 2%, respectively.

One important distinction: Europe is still sending Russia billions of euros annually for energy, even though its dependence has dropped dramatically.
