An appeals court Wednesday rejected California’s mandate that federal immigration agents wear identification, asserting it violates the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution.
California’s No Vigilantes Act, signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom last year, requires nonuniformed law enforcement officers to display their agency and name or badge number during arrests, detentions, and crowd control enforcement. TRUE
An appeals court Wednesday rejected California’s mandate that federal “immigration agents wear identification;” the court asserting the mandate violates the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution.
The Supremacy Clause is found in Article VI, Clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution. It establishes that under the U.S. Constitution, federal laws made in pursuance of it are the “supreme Law of the Land” and prevail over conflicting state laws.——— Library of Congress
“The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals reversed a district court ruling upholding the law.”
probably the 9th is tired of being reversed itself on such obvious matters ... for instance, if states could dictate ANYTHING at all regarding the attire of Federal officers, then they could dictate everything ... for instance, some states could require all Federal LEOs to wear Bozo The Clown costumes ...
U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder got her one minute of fame: for a very brief moment in time she temporarily declared that states have the right to dictate the attire of Federal LEOs ...
Thanks for the ping.
My pleasure.
