A federal judge on Sunday ordered the Trump administration to stop airing ads funded by the U.S. government that portray President Donald Trump in a favorable light, effective immediately.
The lawsuit was brought by watchdog group Common Cause; an individual named Robert Hunter, who is a Democratic candidate for a seat in the Alabama state House; and a labor union in New York and its political action committee. The suit was one of several similar complaints β including one by the Democratic National Committee β that were filed in an effort to get the ads off the air.

Common Cause and other plaintiffs challenged the advertisements, alleging they functioned as political propaganda designed to assist Republican candidates in the November midterm elections rather than serve as legitimate public service announcements.
Plaintiffs sought to block the ads by Friday to prevent airing during weekend programming such as football games and Saturday Night Live, though the Trump administration stated in a Saturday filing it had already planned to cease the campaign.
PresidentΒ Donald TrumpΒ called the ads a "positive promotion for our great U.S.A.," while the White House announced that MAGA PAC would fund future advertisements instead of using taxpayer money going forward.
Common Cause President and CEO Virginia Kase Solomon vowed continued accountability efforts, stating the group will not cease until "no president from any party can waste and abuse taxpayer funds for propaganda ever again.
Oh, the pro America, we are exceptional promos? I’d rather my taxes on that before other things it gets wasted on.

Yet if you point out somali medicaid fraud these morons are the first to call you a racist...
They aired an ad that just had the chorus love me over and over showing Trump. A bit much and seems pro Trump, not America. Not where tax dollars should go.
Same right here.
Same right here.
Well, Trump knows how to get people to view his commercial.
Oooooops! Sorry for the triple. π
Yet they were fine with obamacare promos.
Rochon is a Biden stooge.
Well thank you for weighing in “Since 07-07-26”, MonumentToTDSInsanity.
Gee I guess the ads are effective then otherwise these commie jackasses who have NO problem with OUR tax dollars being used to pay for illegal aliens well, EVERYTHING..Id rather my money be spent on an ad then spent on illegals getting freebies on my damn dime

Another Biden appointee plunges her finger into the Republican pie.
Doubtful that this was an independent action--Dem political bosses calling the shot.
Hmmm, I wonder why he never complained about obabam and biteme funding propaganda? Under Obama, Congress even made it legal. Judge Jenni can pound sand.
Who financed the pro-Obamacare ads?
Freedom of speech, Judge. President and Private Citizen have the same rights.
Not seeing any direct citation to federal laws. Campaign finance laws are designed to regulate contributions to candidates’ campaigns for office. Contributions are regulated by the amount contributed to a candidate per calendar year and per election period, and by limitations on who may be a contributor (i.e., no corporations, no foreign citizens.) Campaign expenditures are regulated in that they must be disclosed through regular reporting.
Not saying that there are a lack of massive inconsistencies in the current scheme of political contribution regulation. For instance, I have a limit of about $2700/candidate/year for presidential campaigns. Jeff Bezos buys the Washington Post and can lose $70-80M per year, in what is in effect an in-kind political campaign contribution to [fill in the blank - whoever is opposed to Trump.]
Trump is not a candidate for anything, and the entity placing the ad is not a campaign for any office. Someone who is reporting on this - please show your work and identify the statutory basis for this case.
These same people were probably the first in line, screaming and raging the loudest that USAID got it’s wings clipped.
