Iran announces a large oil tanker has hit a naval mine while exiting the Strait of Hormuz through the US-backed southern Omani corridor, with a massive explosion and fire in the engine room. It is the second such incident under 24 hours.
A crude oil supertanker exploded and caught fire after it hit a mine while trying to leave the Strait of Hormuz using an "unauthorised and dangerous route", Iranian media Press TV has reported.
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in a statement said the crude oil supertanker had switched off its navigation and global positioning systems while trying to leave the strait and before it hit the naval mine.
The fire was so huge that people living along the coast, a considerable distance away, reported seeing it too.
"A massive fire awaits any violating oil tanker that seeks to disregard the security and regulations of the Strait of Hormuz," the IRGC said.

It’s called war, and you Middle east meadmen started it.
If true this will make TDSers happy.
CNN Reports?
.
How’s The Civilian Airport ?
Neutron bombs over Iran would solve these problems.
“while trying to leave the Strait of Hormuz using an “unauthorised and dangerous route”
Unauthorized by whom?
It was a mine placed by Iran.
It’s strange how once the amount of oil going through the strait reached 95 percent and more, hat suddenly an oil tanker explodes.
It could have been placed during the last week or so.
It also could have been a tanker that did not follow the directions of the US Navy.
Who’s authorized to authorize a route?
Blockade (air drop sea mine) Iran south coast along entire Hormuz strait (good for the goose, etc). Zero vessels out of any southern iran port.
Environmental disaster, not a word from Dems and euroweenies.
Way past time to turn off all electricity in Iran. Lights out.
And sink every speedboat rowboat whatever boat.
Then they all could Do the Neutron dance for a few minutes
How much was the tanker worth?
How much oil was in it?
What was your daily rate less expenses?
This is your check.
“a growing backlog of aging tonnage that is expected to head for the breaking yards in the coming years. Included in the backlog are hundreds of tankers operating in the so-called dark fleet”
https://shipbreakingplatform.org/platform-publishes-list-2025/
There are hundreds of tankers of little value available for Strait transit use.
The world uses about 70 million barrels of oil a day. At a $30 premium to pre-war pricing, that means it would cost the world $2.1 billion a day to allow Iran to block the Strait.
Iran may be able to sink a few tankers before the US Navy eliminates foolhardy Iranian boaters, but the loss of say $500 million of old tankers and the oil put in them is tiny compared to $2.1 billion/day, $15 billion/week, and $65 billion/month.
I think the IRGC believes it’s the ultimate authorizer.
They’re pushing it like a petulant, spoiled brat death cult.
“A fully loaded VLCC carries approximately 2 million barrels of crude oil, worth over $150 million at current prices, across oceans that most people will never see. At 300,000 deadweight tonnes, a VLCC is longer than three football fields, as tall as a 20-storey building when viewed from the waterline, and capable of transporting more energy in a single voyage than some countries consume in a week.”

“A laden VLCC is too wide and too deep for the Suez Canal.”

😂😂😂
A $250 million check is ~1/4000 of the Pentagon budget.
A $250 million check is less than three hours worth of the Pentagon budget.
This will continue to happen as long as Trump lobs missiles here and there, now and then.
I wouldn’t put it past Iran to plant a bomb on a tanker and blow it up and claim it was a mine as a deterrence. Since supposedly the mines had been cleared.
Odd there happened to bd a drone or aircraft aiming a camera at the stern of the tanker the exact moment there’s an explosion.
