This guy is not our friend.

@ZelenskyyUA
We had a very detailed discussion with @vonderleyen on virtually all the current areas of our work with the European Union and the decisions needed to support Ukraine. I thanked Ursula for the recent €1.24 billion tranche for defense, which Ukraine has already received. I am grateful for the confirmation that another approximately €3 billion in military support will be allocated as early as next week. These funds will strengthen us.

Of course, I briefed the President on the brutal Russian strikes that continue unabated. Just before our conversation, the Russians struck a power plant in Kyiv with a “shahed” drone, and many districts experienced power outages. Later, there were strikes on energy facilities in the Kharkiv region. And all of this happened AFTER the President of the United States made his statement about an energy ceasefire.

Ukraine has already said it will stop if Russia stops hitting Ukrainian infrastructure.

The Europeans can call a halt to all US arms purchases, costing the US a few hundred billion in sales.

The EU can also ban the sale of ASMC's chip lithography equipment to the US and open negotiations to ship it to China if the Chinese help build AI chip plants in Europe.

The possible downside cost here to the US is enormous, and all because of Trump's bruised ego that he can't order Zelensky around and has an inveterate desire to kiss Russia's butt.

Do not threaten. Do it. Shut off arms. Shut off money.

Midget grifter dictator Zelinsky mucst be taken out.

End the conflict and hold elections.

USA has spent way too much on corrupt Ukraine

If Zelensky wants to continue to fight the war, he can do it without American arms and intelligence.

We tried to mediate with an attempted ceasefire in the beginning of Trump's second administration.

The US deal with Russia to buy refined oil products last week, and now this. Interesting strategy…

Here’s Ukraine’s problem. They have a large number of small drones. Those drones are only effective if they hit something that will burn. Which pretty much limits them to hitting oil infrastructure. Their best bet for ending the war on terms the Ukrainian people will accept is to keep hitting oil infrastructure. Trump is essentially asking them to lose the war or enter negotiations in a week state with no leverage. I can’t blame them for giving Trump the middle finger.

As to Trump’s alleged diesel deal with Russia. It makes no sense. First off, the Russians are buying diesel on the open market and importing it. Secondly, the amounts announced are at most a few days use of diesel. Trump pisses off Europe and the people he is threatening with sanctions if they buy from Russia. At best, this is a head scratcher. At worst, there are other names for it.

“The Europeans can”

In politics, polling is what matters.

“The EU can also ban the sale of ASMC’s chip lithography equipment to the US”

I think too much money is being wasted on data centers.

Does a US family need even $10,000 worth of data center capacity?

“The Europeans can call a halt to all US arms purchases”

The US can ban civilian flights to Europe.

In politics, polling is what matters.

We went into this to help the Ukraine protect itself. Attacking oil refineries in Russia is not protection, it is aggression. Our purpose has been compromised.

Here’s an idea. Tell Ukraine not to attack Russian targets. And tell Russia not to attack Ukrainian targets. That would only be fair, right?

Or better yet, stay out of it altogether. This mess (a replay of WW1 in miniature) is a Europe problem. Let Europe deal with it. We have enough problems of our own.

Attacking oil refineries in Russia is not protection, it is aggression.

But Russia bombing Ukrainian apartment buildings of civilians, schools, hospitals, electric generation facilities, is not aggression? Your argument is extremely weak.

Having said that, the U.S.A. striking deals with Russia for diesel allows both Russia and the U.S.A. to benefit. Not much benefit in sending our stuff to Ukraine, it does not benefit us much. Let Europe carry the burden, and leave the Ukraine/Russia civil war to others.
