The chart below shows definitively that data centers are the engine powering blue-collar employment these days. Former Obama economist Jason Furman makes the twisted argument that data centers are “crowding out” other construction activity.
No, Jason. Data centers are the key to the reindustrialization of America, as your own chart shows:

The media are trying to downplay the blue-collar data center boom. Watch this reporter who tried to tell a worker that his job is only temporary. His reply was priceless:

And we love this headline about the unions shifting towards Republicans over the issue:

I don’t understand how this has become political, but it sounds like it has.
To listen to the media, it sounds like liberals are against data centers, while conservatives are in favor of data centers.
Listen to the media, then, you get the idea that data centers strain power and water supplies. Listen to the media and you get the impression, that virtually no jobs are created by data centers.
Overall to listen to the media, and liberals, you can get the impression that there’s no benefit to having data centers. And then that ties in with the idea that evil conservatives are pushing data centers that will strain our electrical and water supplies, in return for no good benefit.
Now of course, what the media tell people and the actual facts of a situation, may well be two different things.
This crap is mostly driven by Chyna, who is in an AI/tech race with the US and losing
Data centers generate a large number of temporary construction jobs, but very few permanent, local operational jobs.
These jobs last only a few years during the build-out phase.
Many construction workers are specialized travelers who move from project to project rather than being hired locally.
Once finished, a large data center typically employs a small permanent staff, often ranging from only 20 to 100 employees (and sometimes fewer for smaller or heavily automated facilities).

You have overlooked curry restaurant employment.
Dear Probably Caucasian Investor:
We squandered your retirement funds on data centers built by Hispanics and filled with now outdated Chinese equipment installed by Asian Indians.
The CEOs
I am between Data Center setup jobs. The article is no exaggeration. My job was effectively blue collar (steel toed shoes, hard hats, hearing and eye protection, etc.) Lots of men in their 20s, and some of us much older. Fair pay, cars, food and hotels provided. Some Indians, but lots of anglos. This is a good opportunity for many.
Only until after they’re built.
What bothers me is not the Data Centers, it is the weakness in those other areas of the “Real Construction Spending Growth” graph.
I’m also puzzled by the lack of a showing by construction of transportation infrastructure, and rather worried by the non-showing of utilities outside of power infrastructure, specifically water supply infrastructure construction in the US’ Southwest and some parts of the plains states.
Near East Indians never miss a trick-—and are
visible in data centers, moreso in corporate jobs.
whitehouse.gov——PROTECTING AMERICAN JOBS:
President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order and a Proclamation to continue to protect American national and economic security and American workers from abuses of the H-1B visa program. The E/O enhances program integrity in the H-1B visa program by improving interagency coordination and directing enhanced scrutiny of H-1B visa applications where there is a heightened risk that American workers would be laid off.
The E/O directs the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Labor, and the Secretary of Homeland Security to consult with the Secretary of Commerce, the Secretary of Education, and the Administrator of the Small Business Administration in order to receive additional data for the administration of the H-1B program, such as data on wages, industrial conditions, and employment specialization.
Also directs the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Labor, and the Secretary of Homeland Security to consider petitioner employers’ recent or planned layoffs of similarly situated U.S. workers when considering H-1B visa applications.
The Proclamation renews the $100,000 fee requirement for certain alien H-1B visa applications first imposed on September 19, 2025 to curb abuses that displace U.S. workers and undermine national security.

AOC didn’t want Amazon moving in either. Liberal elites don’t want jobs, prosperity or stable communities. Nope, they want to take money from the people providing the jobs. A big fat ‘wealth’ tax...
Another lie by numbers. They report percentage. not actual.
If my company employs 1 person but I hire 1 more, that is a doubling but it is insignificant, just like data center jobs.
