President Donald Trump announced billions of dollars in Medicare fraud discovered, with payments to millions of seniors going out starting tomorrow, during a rally in San Antonio on Oct. 7.
“My administration has located billions and billions of dollars that were supposed to be spent on improving Medicare ... but it never got spent, so they tried to hide it, and by hiding it, they tried to make their numbers look better, which was impossible because their numbers are so bad,” Trump told thousands of supporters in the Freeman Coliseum on Oct. 7 during an event to boost support for Republican candidates with less than a month remaining before the midterms. “And we’re giving that money back to American seniors as I promised.”
More than 20 million individuals enrolled in Medicare Part B, including about 1.4 million Texans, will receive $90 payments.
He also touted heightened border security, new natural gas development investment, and increased income for Americans while urging voters to support Republican Senate and House nominees Ken Paxton and Carlos De La Cruz, respectively, among other party candidates running in the state.
“A vote for Ken Paxton is a vote to defend Texas and defend everything that made Texas and made America great,” the president said, suggesting that Paxton’s opponent would oppose the Second Amendment and support transgender ideologies.
Paxton is facing Democrat James Talarico for Sen. John Cornyn’s (R-Texas) seat after the sitting senator was defeated in the primary following Trump’s endorsement of Paxton.
Republicans are vying to maintain control of the Senate in November, with the Texas race being a key component of their strategy. Recent polls show Talarico leading by slim margins.
The Republican nominee criticized his opponent and described him as a socialist with an agenda.
“We have a choice right now. Are we going to accept tyranny, or are we going to keep our freedom?” Paxton said. “This is our time, and I hope that in 250 years, they are looking back on Texas, just like we did with the Alamo.”
Air Force veteran De La Cruz faces Democrat Bexar County Sheriff’s Deputy Johnny Garcia in the state’s redrawn 35th district.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, in a tightening race against Democrat Gina Hinojosa to keep his seat, according to recent polling data, was notably absent from the event. His office cited a scheduling conflict.
Guests of honor at the event included angel family member Marie Vega, whose Border Patrol agent son was killed in 2014 near Santa Monica, Texas, by two illegal immigrants. Vega’s husband returned fire, allowing for the capture of the two killers.
She thanked Trump for stopping the “senseless killings and the invasion” by securing the border, while cautioning potential criminals against attempting to infiltrate the United States.
“Read my lips. The border is closed,” Vega said. “Come legally, or don’t come at all.”
Major League Baseball legend and seven-time Cy-Young winner Roger Clemens surprised the crowd by taking the stage.
“What a privilege it is for me to be here to intro our great president. This man, he put his life on the line for us. Don’t ever forget that,” Clemens said.
“The theme of the evening is get out and vote. Get out and vote, y’all. You can do it.”
Trump later awarded the pitcher the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor, while rattling off some of Clemens’s statistics and lamenting his absence from the Baseball Hall of Fame.
“I’m stunned,” Clemens said after the announcement. “This supersedes anything that, obviously, I did in my playing career.”
The stop marked Trump’s third visit to the Lone Star State in less than a month following his appearances at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas in early September and a visit to Peterbilt’s plant in Denton on Oct. 1.
Multiple protesters disrupted the rally in a series of incidents during the president’s address, but they were quickly removed from the assembly.
“If there are any more paid protesters, please raise your hand and get the hell out of here,” Trump said after the third pause.
More individuals later caused scenes and were subsequently evicted, with at least one leaving the room in handcuffs.
Members of the Bexar County Democratic Party and the Party for Socialism and Liberation protested near the coliseum before the doors opened, but it is unclear if those removed from the rally were affiliated with any groups.
Gina Ortiz Jones, San Antonio mayor, issued a statement on Oct. 5 requesting a meeting with Trump and listing five topics for discussion: ending the Iran war, ending trade wars and tariffs, stopping a local Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility, “[stopping] the planned cuts to Medicare” in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, and “[holding] data centers accountable.”
“San Antonio is the third most impoverished big city in the country, so it’s not surprising that federal policies causing high gas prices and high grocery bills would disproportionately impact our community,” Ortiz Jones said.

Gonna use my $90 to help Republicans get elected!
i already received $90 from SSA Treas on Thursday ...
Got it. Also received a signed email. Very exciting.
I won’t be getting that $90.00. I think one has to already be on Medicare in order to get it. I chose to have zero deductions and receive as much of my Social Security check as I could. I don’t regret it. Most of my medical needs are taken care of through the VA.
$9.00 to Church or charity; as for the other $81.00 IDK.
NOT into the gas tank!
A high percentage of illegal aliens will increase the poverty rate. Oddly San Antonio is a vibrant and economically healthy city. Illegal aliens skew the poverty statistics.
I lived there in the 70s and Mayor Cisneros a democrat, did a good job. Many Republicans voted for him. I did not, but was okay with him as mayor. He would have probably been president instead of Bill Clinton least his affair with a white employee lady. He would have been a decent president without the corruption of the Clintons.
I never use the term "undocumented migrant" as that gives legitimacy to an illegal alien. They are not migrants; they are illegal aliens.
This white boy was raised on the border, speaks Spanish, is married to a Mexican National of high education from our universities and is now an American Citizen the legal way.
It took her brother 17 years to become an American Citizen the legal way. He scored 100% on his citizenship test. Her sisters are American Citizens by birth, one married to a gringo and the other married to a ultra conservative Iranian now an American citizen many years ago. He is an engineer of metals as in smelting. Family gatherings are interesting and fun.
Same here
We have not received ours yet. I wonder if there are restrictions.
Got mine yesterday.
Not in my account.
Mine’s here. I don’t really need it, so Ken Paxton will probably get it.
$90 might pay for a year’s worth of Folger’s and/or Black Rifle coffee as long as I keep it down to around 3 cups a day. Buy now and save!
I’m not in favor of this. And I’m now a “senior”.
How do you know if you got it? Are there physical checks? Dollars added to SS account electronically?
I’d just as soon that they spent it DEPORTING ILLEGALS — especially the ones from third-world sh!tholes.
If you are on Medicare Advantage as I am, you will not get it, but Im okay with that because I save over $300/mo on my plan that was going to a Cigna supplemental.
