President Donald Trump is set to honor a distinguished group of tech leaders, including Elon Musk, at the White House's Science: A New Golden Age Summit on Thursday (October 8). President Trump will present the National Medal of Science to Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and AMD CEO Lisa Su. According to the White House, these awards recognize significant contributions to science and technology.
The summit will also see Michael Dell, CEO of Dell Technologies, and Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, receiving the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. These medals are the highest honors in the United States for technological achievement, acknowledging contributions that have positively impacted the country's economic, environmental, and social well-being.
The event underscores the Trump administration's appreciation for these leaders' roles in maintaining America's global leadership in innovation. CNBC reports that Musk, who heads SpaceX and Tesla, was a significant financial supporter of Trump's 2024 election campaign, contributing over $290 million.
The summit follows a recent White House lunch focused on artificial intelligence, where Trump and tech leaders discussed the future of AI development. The awards ceremony marks President Trump's first time presenting these prestigious medals during his administration.
The summit will bring together leading scientists and tech innovators to explore how super intelligence and private-sector investment can accelerate scientific breakthroughs. The event highlights the administration's commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement in the United States.

Nice...
Starlink and the ability to place massive satellites in orbit by Musk in my mind are most favored accomplishments. Musk has changed the world.
Scott Adams (RIP) should get one too.
Musk deserves more than one.
Is Starlink a threat to conventional internet providers?
My daughter has it and loves it. They travel a lot so they never worry about being shut down.
I never realized Musk choosing TESLA as a brand name was named after Nikola Tesla...a genius like Musk. Nikola lit up the world.
There are two gorgeous statues of Tesla in Niagara Falls. Musk said Nikola never got the credit he deserved...despite everything he accomplished, he died a pauper in NYYC. We obviously did wrong by him. It's really quite the story.
It makes you understand a little more about Musk, too.
I'd like to help him. I think I could settle some questions for him he finds disquieting. I also have a "next big thing" in mind that somebody needs to ponder besides me. It could help him with his aspirations on Mars.
Why tell me...Give him a jingle.
Don’t know how. I’ve long figured that at least one of his associates lurks here. A quick scan of the articles I’ve posted here would convince that I’m no lighweight. Checking out my web sites would confirm that suspicion without me letting the cat out of that other bag I’m working on.
So I work and wait. Notoriety isn’t worth it. Being a target inhibits getting anything done.
