President Donald Trump has approved the use of a firing squad for the execution of Nidal Hasan, who was convicted of killing 13 people and wounding dozens of others in the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood in Texas. It would be the US Army’s first such execution of a soldier since World War II and its first imposition of any death penalty on an armed service member in 65 years.

Acting Army Secretary Adam Telle announced Tuesday that Hasan’s execution is scheduled for December 3 at 2 p.m. ET at Fort Hood.

Convicted prisoners can still appeal a death sentence by filing a petition of habeus corpus, challenging the legality of their imprisonment, according to the article. Such a filing could lead to a stay of execution while the appeal makes its way through the legal system.

Since World War Eleven? WOW!
I hope they wait until Dec 2 to deny it
It should be broadcast to the entire nation.
I’m guessing the Army won’t botch this execution like TN is in the habit of botching executions.
Historically, hanging was the standard execution method for common criminals, while beheading was reserved for the nobility and royalty as a more honorable and swift alternative to the gruesome punishment of hanging, drawing, and quartering for treason.
Firing squad (shooting) has traditionally been used for military personnel convicted of serious offenses, such as desertion or cowardice, though it remains rare in civilian contexts.
it should be broadcast to the entire mideast ...
I hope not.
Excellent idea.
If officers of the Armed Forces of the United States were required to wear sidearms while on duty ( that is actually be armed), this murderer Hasan would have received definitive justice before he fired his second shot.
Also, extremely important to remember the victims and the families and loved ones they left behind. 13 killed, 30 wounded. Never forget:
Michael Grant Cahill: 62
Libardo Eduardo Caraveo: 52
Justin Michael DeCrow: 32
John Paul Gaffaney: 56
Frederick Greene: 29
Jason Dean Hunt: 22
Amy Sue Krueger: 29
Aaron Thomas Nemelka: 19
Michael Scott Pearson: 22
Russell Gilbert Seager: 51
Francheska Velez: 21 (was pregnant at the time, fetus also died)
Juanita Lee Warman: 55
Kham See Xiong: 23
Memorials to the innocent shooting victims:
I was thinking broadcast it at half time.
> hanging was the standard execution method for common criminals <
Nidal Hasan is a murderer, a common criminal. He does not deserve the “dignity” of a firing squad. He deserves the rope.
It matters not that he happened to be wearing a uniform at the time.
They should have made it a hanging, then the headline could read—””Trump approves US Army’s first execution by hanging since President John F. Kennedy””.
Thank you for remembering the victims and posting their names!
Maybe the guys on the firing squad will ‘accidentally’ shoot his balls off without killing him, and need 5-10 minutes to reload...
The governor of Tennessee needs to send some of his Tennessee girly men to Fort Hood on December 3rd. They’ll show you how to execute EVIL!
Put it on Pay per View and pay for a new B1 bomber.
I’m retired. Can I still volunteer for the squad? I’ll bring my own ammo and everything.....
Do it slow, one shot at a time so he suffers as much as possible. Let him die in agony, slow bleeding to death with immeasurable pain. While he slowly dies, recite the names of all the people he killed.
