DA says 20 surrogate-born children suffered abuse in California 'house of horrors'
A California mansion packed with young children was a "house of horrors," prosecutors say. Authorities on Tuesday arrested Guojon Xuan, 65, and his wife, 38-year-old Sylvia Zhang, on child abuse charges after a yearlong investigation into what officials describe as a tightly monitored "home school type" compound for more than 20 children, most of them born to surrogate mothers, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Fifteen children, most of them between 1 and 3 years old, were removed from the home in the Los Angeles County city of Arcadia after an abuse allegation last year. Another six were removed from other locations. According to court records, Zhang said she was the biological mother of 22 children with Xuan, all but two delivered through surrogates. The couple married in 2021.
Detectives say six live-in nannies cared for the kids, many toddlers with identical buzz cuts, under constant camera surveillance viewed on a monitor in the couple's bedroom. Investigators say footage captured repeated physical and emotional abuse by caregivers; prosecutors allege Xuan and Zhang knew and did nothing. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said they face multiple counts of child abuse and conspiracy to commit child abuse, along with charges of being an accessory after the fact and dissuading a witness, the AP reports.
"This case is unprecedented. It is horrific. And the physical abuse, beating, and punishment that these very young children received, is despicable," Hochman told reporters. "The house could only be described as a house of horrors," he said. Hochman said nannies had been instructed not to leave marks on the children, and the children had been ordered not to tell police that they had been beaten.
The investigation began after Zhang brought a 2-month-old boy to a hospital in East Hollywood with a head injury, the Times reports. A nanny accused of slamming the boy's head against a desk fled to China before she could be arrested, as did the other five nannies, officials say. Hochman said the wealthy couple set up a surrogacy agency. Investigators believe some women, including many first-time surrogates, may have been misled about the couple's situation and intentions, reports the AP. Texas woman Kayla Elliott, who says she thought she was helping a small family, is seeking custody of the baby she had for the couple.

Home school style compound!
Ah, China. They have SUCH a wonderful attitude towards children and women, don't they?
The Chinese government wouldn't know the truth if it came up and kicked it in the shins.
All cultures are equal, right?
Yes. But some cultures are more equal than others.
Yes, psychopaths in the making to do CCP bidding. Disgusting. Biden regime and Demonrats.
What does this have to do with the culture in China?
“They were released into the custody of Lindsay Clancy by Caliwhackistan officials in order to protect them.” 😂😂😂
And all of them are “American”, ready to vote in another 16 years or so.
What is a homeschool style compound?
This is just a case of CCP factory child birthing and nurturing.
👍
This was a Chinese set up - and NOT the only 'surrogacy'/birthing vacation etc. operation run by the Chinese. Why these half American half Chinese children were being intentionally abused needs to be looked into... some of the possibilities are really troubling.
They were given the Supreme Court seal of approval.
Again, what does this have to do with the culture in China?
