Any of the military bands are worth seeing. I am glad they were showcased on the Independence Day events.

YEP!! I would love to see/hear it again but it’s not possible for me even if it was going to be near me in the south..I didn’t want to look at the schedule for that reason..
On my senior trip to DC in 1954 from the southern tier of NY state, a few of us girls went to the Marine Corps Barracks to hear the Marine band rehearse. 8th and I? Sounds right. I think the rest of the class went to the Smithsonian that day. I have no idea how we got there except must be took a cab. Farm kids and we knew zip about taxis. I was the secretary of the class and had written ahead to see if it was possible and received an invitation. I was NOT going to miss it - it was FABULOUS.
My high school sweetheart was in the Marines and I received the Leatherneck magazine and got the idea to hear the band rehearse from an article in it...We were ushered into a huge auditorium - only people in the place and were asked to stand to be introduced. Thrill of a lifetime.
It would be great to see the movie again about John Philip Sousa forming the band...

I tell people one of the best kept secrets in DC is the Marine Barracks parade.
Thank you for this post. I might have a chance to see them in Georgia next month. I have ALWAYS wanted to see a live military band performance.
I couldn’t see how to get tickets to the performance in Carrollton, GA on 10/24. I will research more later.
