Maria Salazar Started Believing Her Own Press, but Her Miami Voters Gave Her a Rude Awakening

Republican Rep. Maria Salazar (FL-27) recently dropped an ad directly confronting President Donald Trump about his immigration agenda. Salazar has been none too pleased about the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations, detentions, and mass deportations of certain people and groups, particularly those who had their temporary protected status revoked.

However, she made the assumption that she would be cheered on by her voters, Republican moderates and so-called moderate Democrats.

A week later, that ad has aged like curdled milk. It seems that Salazar's Miami constituents, for whom she claimed to be speaking, are letting her know that she does not represent their viewpoint.

When I initially heard this, I found these claims by Salazar to be risible: "...“The same Hispanics who helped you get to the White House in 2024 feel betrayed today”..." Really?

From NPR (and this was BEFORE the 2024 election): "...While campaigning, President-elect Donald Trump promised "On day one, I will launch the largest deportation program of criminals in the history of America." He referenced 1954's "Operation Wetback," an effort ordered by President Dwight D. Eisenhower..."

And this from AP dated 9/28/2024 (over a month before the 2024 election):

Immigration was the issue that propelled Trump into the White House the first time and what he hopes will give him another term. During just about every campaign speech or appearance, he has portrayed immigration as out of control.

One of Trump’s key promises if reelected is to mount the largest domestic deportation in U.S. history. He made similar promises when he first ran for office, but during his administration, deportations never topped 350,000.

For comparison, then-President Barack Obama carried out 432,000 deportations in 2013, the highest annual total since records were kept.

This time, Trump has given some more specifics on his promises. He said he’ll use the National Guard to round up migrants. And he said he would invoke the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 law that allows the president to deport any noncitizen from a country that the U.S. is at war with. Remain in Mexico made migrants wait in Mexico while their asylum cases were heard, while Title 42 curbed immigration on public health grounds. He has said he’ll revive and expand a travel ban from his term that originally targeted citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries and pledged new “ideological screening” for immigrants to bar “dangerous lunatics, haters, bigots and maniacs.”

Trump also seeks to end birthright citizenship for people born in the U.S. whose parents are both in the country illegally...."

In Summary:
During the 2024 election cycle, Trump said loudly exactly what he was going to do. All year, he said repeatedly exactly what he was going to do. He said publicly in nearly any interview exactly what he was going to do. And when he was elected, he did exactly those things he said he was going to do.

And hispanics voted for him in record numbers.

So. With this in mind, what can we take about the assertion from the putrid, Deep State Wall Street Journal (that hates Trump and everything about him) and make heads or tails out of it?

That hispanics, who voted for him in historic percentages (46% overall) were unaware that Trump was going to do these things? If THIS is true, then they weren't paying attention and that does not speak well for hispanic voters.

Or, that they knew Trump was going to do these things, and didn't believe he would follow through? That it was campaign rhetoric? If THIS is true, they understood neither the issue NOR the candidate, and that is not a good look, either.

If you ask me, the truth of the matter is, this is the "Open Borders" underwear of the stinking, globalist Wall Street Journal showing, and they want to make people believe Trump's agenda is evil and should be thwarted by writing a stupid article like this.

And that doesn't even begin to mention what this means about the stinking POS Open Borders RINO Salazar.

But many Latino voters in Salazar’s district said she has misread their sentiment and that their support for Trump has not wavered. Their support for their congresswoman, however, has waned, they said — and the ad did nothing to restore their confidence.

I live in Florida - my first reaction to her comments was she must have been a democrat running as a Republican to throw a monkey wrench into the midterms.

Every republican member in congress means that the democrat agenda will not be implemented. Every vote counts, especially when the number of votes is so tiny and very close between the parties.

The party with the greater number of members, gets to set the agenda, and the democrat agenda is the same as the DEI/DSA nonsense.
