Rep. Keith Self, R-Texas, is asking the Internal Revenue Service to investigate whether the Islamic Society of North America violated federal rules governing tax-exempt organizations by reportedly allowing campaign activity for Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed at its annual convention.
Self sent a letter Wednesday to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, citing a report from the Middle East Forum about El-Sayed’s appearance at the 63rd annual ISNA Convention in Detroit earlier this month.

A preeminent Islamic council with organizational ties to a suspected financial collaborator of terrorism has authorized followers of Islam to flood Muslim and anti-Israel candidates with financial support using monetary obligations under Sharia law.
The Fiqh Council of North America earlier this election year issued a fatwa, a religious order in Islam, instructing Muslims across the United States that they are allowed to send portions of their annual Islamic dues — mandatory almsgiving known as “zakat” — to the campaigns of Muslim candidates and other 2026 contenders opposed to Israel..

A congressman from TX, eh? That’s it? I’d like to think that MI Republicans would be interested in pursuing this as well.
Do you support the first amendment or not?
Searching on the name brings up a British actor, is that the person who made tahat statement?
It sure seems possible (with my limited knowledge) that this guy should be more closely scrutinized. In the meantime, know that in a million years he would never get my vote.
The picture pretty well summarizes my opinion on how this should go.
And this investigation will be swept under the rug and won’t see the light of day in about 20 years.
