This law seems to be obviously unconstitutional. Hopefully someone will challenge it before it takes effect.

Yup, that’s a whole new (not really) interpretation of “shall not be infringed.”

Until it takes effect, no one has standing, if I understand the precedent correctly.

That’s what we’re hoping for in CO. We now have the have the blessing of our County Sheriff to be able to take a 2 day class, pass at 90% BEFORE we can even begin the process to purchase a gun.

I’m sure all criminals will follow these new rules.

Talk about infringement.

Last year’s Supreme Court ruling enables individuals to purchase handguns from licensed dealers in any state, provided they comply with all relevant federal and state regulations.

Do I need a permit to write an editorial? Attend a church? Petition my government? Join a club of like-minded people?

How many other amendments require permits the exercise?

DOJ needs to say it’s unconstitutional, sue in Federal court for an injunction, and ATF must say any FFL must not comply with it anymore than they would a law banning blacks from buying firearms.

I am pretty sure other states will use this a precedent to enact similar laws. it usually goes ca- or-wa first, but if it works in wa expect california and other lib states to follow.

if someone wanted to expand their minimal selection what would be good things to consider

I lived in Tennessee for a number of years. 1971 to 1975. 1980, 1981. 1991 to 1998. I don’t remember which years, but there was a time when, before I could buy a handgun, I had to get the permission of the local sheriff.

‘Raymond said he believes the policy places the burden primarily on law-abiding gun owners rather than addressing people who use firearms to commit crimes.’

The law-abiding are easier targets than the criminal.

The United States already has ample evidence in that regard.

The country was under Prohibition back in the 1920s. Honest folks had no liquor. Criminals could get all the liquor they wanted, and more.

“Gun control” will give the exact same results.

Democrats know that their gun control will ultimately fail upon challenge.
They are happy with the years it takes to win a challenge to their stupid laws

Colorado is forcing buyers to go to an approved safety class in order to be permitted to buy a firearm.

Yup. And in 1969 I had to go to the Los Angeles Police Department to get a card saying I was cleared to buy a pistol, during working hours. You had to wait five working days back then and of course, get off work to go get the card. I was still in the Marine Corps back then and I was buying an Italian-made replica brass-framed 1851 Colt in .36 caliber.

I showed up in the police office at the appointed time and a very fat plainclothes officer said "what are you going to do with this gun - hold up a gas station?". Considering that I was in uniform and recently back from Vietnam, I was furious at his attitude, and I asked to see his Watch Commander. When he got there (another fat cop) I told him what the first cop said to me and I asked him, "since when do you people insult the public?" instead of carrying out your duties?".

They gave me my card and glared at me - mainly because they knew that I'd keep elevating things if I didn't get my card and I'd eventually reach a former Marine in their chain of command and there'd be hell to pay.

I’ve often thought it would be fun as a legislative body member and propose a law tailored after an arms law of this nature but for freedom of speech or religion.
