It’s called propaganda.
One of course wonders how many were there to avoid punishment had they not shown up versus how many were bureaucratic tyrant/beneficiaries of the regime.
Can we give up the fantasy that the people of Iran are going to rise up en masse against the regime now?

Makes you wonder. The Japanese did the same. Being an island country you can expect them to look at the outside world as alien. The Japanese people did their duty when it came to the sickos directing the country. Are Iranians the same? Just look at how draconian the Shah had to become to keep in line all the crazies. The mullahs may be gone soon but I’d be careful of what we wish for.
Cuba, on the other hand has hit rock bottom. Another grid failure. They can be brought along without too much of an adjustment. Close to the US, plenty of Cubans here and a willingness to try something new.
I hope lots & lots of Iranians sign up for military training. Then they can take the gun they’ve been given & turn it on the regime. If I was there, that’s what I’d do.
