White House issues explosive response to UN-backed report claiming US committed war crimes against world’s No.1 sponsor of terror, Iran

The White House came out swinging against a United Nations-sponsored investigation that found “reasonable grounds” to conclude the US committed war crimes in Iran and should pay “full reparations to victims.”

“The UN Human Rights Council has accomplished nothing for human rights while spouting unserious nonsense for decades,” said White House principal deputy press secretary Anna Kelly.

“The only party in this conflict that has committed war crimes is the Iranian regime, which has murdered thousands of its own people, killed Americans overseas, executed acts of terrorism in the Strait of Hormuz, and launched indiscriminate attacks against its neighbors in the region,” Kelly said.

The 47-member Human Rights Council — which includes alleged human rights abusers such as China, Cuba and Ethiopia — will formally receive the investigative report on Monday as President Trump prepares to attend meetings for the annual UN General Assembly.

The probe focused on two US airstrikes on the first day of the war on Feb, 28. One hit a school in Minab, allegedly killing 178 civilians. The other hit a “clearly identifiable sports complex and residential area” in Lamerd, allegedly killing 22, the investigators said. “The mission found reasonable grounds to believe the United States committed the war crime of launching indiscriminate attacks resulting in the loss of life or injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects,” a UN statement says, assessing that “the building of the school was the intended point of impact.”

Whether you are for or against this war, one thing I think we can agree on is that we should not be in the United Nations. Why are we assessed 22% of the UN regular budget and 26.15% of the peacekeeping budget? Trump rightfully didn’t pay the UN dues during his second term.

Pull out of the UN, knock down the buildings, and turn the site into a solar farm on top of a data center—which will make everyone’s heads explode.

The UN was created to prevent wars. It should be fired for not doing its job.

Donald Trump offered to release the hold on Iranian assets her in the US AND give them 300 Billion Dollars in post war reconstruction funds.

Iran refused.

So where does the UN get off demanding we pay then reparations?

The UN assisted the HAMAS terrorists. The UN is thus a terrorist organization.

I will gladly give to a fund to move the UN HQ to Tehran or Kabul.

Ship it overseas and turn that building into low income housing. At least then it will be used for something useful.

I’d suggest staying in the UN only because of our veto there. Without that veto, the UN could cause a lot of mischief. Trade embargos, etc.

We are one nation out of 193 there. So let’s contribute 1/193 of the budget. The UN should do just fine. Of course, they’d have to cut back on all their wasteful, anti-American spending.

That’s just bad for them.

Getting out of the UN is long overdue. Likewise NATO.

The USA fought a revolution to separate from those kinds of government.

Just to be clear: that $300 billion was not US money. That was strictly from a coalition of Gulf Nations. You may already know that.

I keep seeing this trope repeated ad nauseam across the Internet “Trump was going to give them more money than Obama did!” and it just isn’t true.

That is according to both Forbes and The Council on Foreign Relations, neither of which can be conservative in any way, shape, or form.

It’s not a war, it’s a military conflict.

That’s a good point, pay only 1/193rd of the budget. Maybe since we have veto power pay 2/193.

The UN will no longer exist by the time we’re finished with them.

There is no justification for the UN’s existence.

The UN was created to prevent wars.

That was the pitch, not the reason.

The reason was that the UN charter and treaty serves as a get-around on Constitutional limitations on government regulations by treaty.

THAT is at least one thing we can completely agree upon. The UN is useless to US. Now it is worse. Kennedy Center it.
