We are past the peak of the Hurricane season and the great news is that no hurricanes have yet formed in the Atlantic Ocean. This should be a cause of massive relief yet for poor David A. Graham of The Atlantic, this also seems to be a source of frustration. Why? Because Donald Trump has not had to face a hurricane disaster going into the midterm elections. Graham's bizarre attitude can be see in his Tuesday article in which he almost seems to plead for a hurricane so as to harm Trump, "How Long Can the U.S. Escape an Atlantic Hurricane?"
Graham's not very well hidden frustration over a lack of hurricanes is encapsulated in the following:

If there is no major hurricane in this season, then I should think everyone would be counting their blessings instead of trying to make something out of it politically. This is one of the more stupid things I’ve heard of. Hard to believe that someone would pray for a major hurricane just to possibly harm a political opponent.
Someone on another website pointed out the defunding of a lot of leftist causes with the USAID frauds and tied it to the lack of hurricanes as well as violent protests.
Graham is a man without human empathy. Hurricanes destroy lives, families, and property. Graham should suffer the wish he has for a hurricane.
How sick and depraved one must be to pine for a natural disaster that destroys hundreds if not thousands of lives and large swatches of people’s livelihood / homes.
All for a political agenda, and this people think they are they good guys!

I seem to recall after the 2004 hurricane season (when we got whacked pretty good), there was a span of about 10 years where there were no significant storms in or around Florida. I can live with another dry spell for a while with no hurricanes. Anyway...where was this idiot during that period?

Yeah - in a normal year 40% of hurricanes form in September, but we’re more than half way through the month with *NO* hurricanes (for the year, much less September) and there is no expectation of a hurricane (or tropical storm for that matter) forming in the next week:

I was listening to a weatherman explaining the lack of storms in the Atlantic. The El Nino has indeed created some very warm water, which should be generating storms. But storms must rotate to get up required energy to exist. The El Nino has also created very fast winds at high altitude. This is preventing the required rotational motion required to form a storm.
