Kennedy Center board's meeting to 'exclusively' focus on closure, court filing says

Tuesday's meeting of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts' board will now focus exclusively on the "necessary closure" of the center, and not on additional ways to honor President Donald Trump, the Trump administration said in an overnight federal court filing.

In their late-night court filing, Justice Department lawyers included an email sent to the board at 7 p.m. Monday by Kennedy Center official Joe LaFauci, indicating that a separate draft resolution proposing ten new ways to honor Trump would not be considered, and that the board "stands by" its earlier vote to recognize the president.

The board voted 23-3 last month on a resolution to close the facility for two years as part of a $285 million renovation plan, according to a court filing. The board, members of which were largely appointed by Trump, also voted to add Trump's name back onto the Kennedy Center building as many as two more times, according to the filing.

Perplexity.....

The real reason is best described as a combined physical-and-financial emergency:

Factor	What the evidence suggests
Deferred building repairs	Real and substantial; the building has documented system, water, structural, and life-safety needs. cnn

Desire for a full shutdown	It likely saves construction time and money, but it also avoids the challenge of running a diminished, politically damaged arts institution during renovation. cnn+1

In plain terms: the building needs serious work, but the urgency of closing it appears to be amplified—perhaps decisively—by a management, revenue, and credibility crisis. The collapse is the clearest public safety trigger. The deeper reason the Center may be unable to remain open is that it no longer has the programming strength, ticket income, donor support, and stable arts relationships needed to carry the institution through a complicated renovation.

If I may summarize and paraphrase, the woke and progressive arts programming has turned off actual consumers and donors leaving nobody to charitably fund the disaster it has become.

The safety issues are real and cannot be ignored thus exasperating the lack of finical support

And just now... judge blocks Trump’s name from appearing on the building or plaza.

Just pull the plug on our country now.
