On August 30, 2002, the 97th Logistics Group inactivated and the 97th Air Mobility Wing Maintenance Directorate formed along with five subordinate divisions. On November 1, 2017, the 97th Maintenance Group was activated to replace the Maintenance Directorate, aligning the 97th Air Mobility Wing’s aircraft maintenance function with standard Air Force organizational structure.

OKaltusafb4

The 97th Mission Support Group provides mission support for C-17, KC-135 and KC-46 aircraft and base wide infrastructure to include communications, civil engineering, law enforcement, force/fire protection, contracting, disaster response, environmental, lodging, transportation, recreation, supply, education, mobility, food service and family & personnel support.

OKaltusafb3

97th Maintenance Group provides maintenance and support to all assigned aircraft and provides the same maintenance support to transient aircraft, engines and associated ground equipment. The Group provides backshop support to all three aircraft while continuously improving environmental awareness and effectively managing maintenance resources, allowing the 97th Air Mobility Wing to perform its aircrew training mission.

Everything goin’ alright down there in the oven?
It’s an oven here, too, so you aren’t the only ones being picked on by mother Nature. Or cussing her. LOL

Hi radu!

It’s just crazy that it’s still so hot over a big part of the US. Oven is right, still over 100 degrees here, for the rest of this week.

You take care, and stay cool!

*HUGS*

Hey radu, always a fun time with the boy, he has today off so saw him again.

Coldish mornings here leading to warm afternoons, just loving it.

I know you in the southern states have longer lasting summer weather.

How's getting around doing?

Howdy, luvie.

Did you get the few degrees shaved off the high today that they promised?

Yeah, nothing’s coming through to shove this big high off to the Atlantic to give us some relief. No relief for us for at least a week, and no rain either. :-(

Stayin’ cool as best I can! LOL

My dad retired at Altus AFB and I graduated from Altus High School.

We were assigned there twice, in 1961-1964, it was a SAC base hosting Atlas Missiles in silos, B52's and KC-135s.

We returned in 1967 when my dad retired and watched it turn into a MAC base with C-141s and C-5s. They still kept the KC-135 squadron there. After I enlisted in the USAF in 1971, it was transferred to ATC.

In one of those quirks of military life, after 9 years of active duty doing Minuteman III maintenance, I transferred to the reserves and went back to Altus again for C-141 loadmaster cross training then three years later pilot training for the '141.

That base wouldn't let go of me.

Ah, a bonus day with your son. The next one needs to be spent on the pew pew range. :-)

Yeah, summer hangs around a little longer down here but usually we’re feeling a cooldown by now. Still warm but comfortably so. This isn’t comfortable at all! Send some our way!

I’m getting around well these days. The ankle’s a little achy by the end of the day if I do too much so I try NOT to do too much. LOL Some days can’t be helped. I do the little list of exercises the dr. gave me to do late each night and they immediately make everything feel much better. With luck, it won’t take as long to completely heal as the dr. expects.
