Sweden's Incredibly Close Election Explained
TLDR News EU ^ | 9/14/2026

The so-called Red-Green Bloc was far ahead, then in the last week, the race tightened up. In the end, the Red-Green Bloc eked out a narrow victory, with 176 seats in the incoming national legislature (the Rikstag). The Right of Center Bloc got 173. A mere 3 seat margin. Challenges remain because the Center Party (which is counted as part of the Red-Green Bloc but actually isn't a left of center party) objects to the Left Party. But, the Center Party cannot simply shift to the Right of Center Bloc, because it also objects to the Swedish Democrats. The Left Party has turned antisemitic. While the Swedish Democrats are anti-Islam.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

I've presented a summary, rather than copied and pasted an excerpt. You can, if you want, watch the video to satisfy yourself as to what was said.

On Wednesday, they'll count the late-arriving early vote. I don't think it will change the 176 to 173 outcome.

It is really good that the Red-Green Bloc was kept to a narrow victory. Keeping the margin small, and giving the Center Party the balance of power means the Social Democrats will have to resist the more radical proposals of the Left Party. The last time the Red-Green Bloc won, the Social Democrats ruled as a minority government. The Social Democrats forged majorities on particular issues with other parties of the left and of the center; or, with other parties of the center and the center-right.

At this point I'll offer my own opinion. It is now long past time that the refugees of the 2010s from the Middle East either learn the national language and become self-supporting or else return to their home countries. Considering the cost of supporting refugees and the crime associated with people who hate the place they are living (even because they are on welfare), the citizens and tax-payers of Sweden should kick them out.

Was this the usual case of fake polls “becoming more accurate” as the election neared?

when polls close like that, giving the advantage to one side, then right before the election they say its much closer, they are fake polls. The final polls are very close to the real thing all along. They just want to say their polls were always correct. When in reality they were lying on purpose to help one side. Then, in order to retain their credibility they report the real thing at the last minute without as much force. So they can say they were always right and opinion moved to the center.

What’s a Red-Green Bloc? A Watermelon. Green on the outside. Red on the inside.

AMEN to that. But, for myriad reasons, that seems unlikely to happen. Native men and women are happy electing leaders that will destroy them with unlimited immigration of jihadists. By the time they come to their senses, it will be too late.

Sweden committed cultural suicide about 80 years ago. Remember the Swedes traded enthusiastically with Nazi Germany until the Nazis ran out of gold. They have been rotting ever since.

But is any of that actually going to happen?

yes, 100%, and this afternoon!!

That’s not how democracy works. It usually takes a while to get enough support to influence policy. Then, to gain a majority. Then, to gain a consensus. On this issue, in Denmark, it’s a consensus issue because the Social Democrats have embraced tightening up immigration. (And, they have done well politically, taking that issue away from us.)

https://essentialeurope.substack.com/p/how-denmarks-social-democrats-migration-shift-became-a-success-and-weakened-the-far-right

This immigration issue is a bit complicated because the other side counts on votes from immigrants. So, there’s political forces on both sides. Taking both effects into account (Right of center concerns for the welfare cost of many immigrants and for crime; and left of center concerns for getting votes), it’s a net winner for our side. But, man!, it’s been tough making actual progress.
