Maria Bartiromo's lawyer has sensationally denied reports that the veteran television host was fired by Fox News, warning that he has 'receipts and witnesses' to prove it.
In an exclusive statement to the Daily Mail, powerhouse attorney Bryan Freedman branded the 'irresponsible' reports that Bartiromo had been fired or was no longer employed by Fox 'absolutely and unequivocally false.'
It comes after Fox News Media announced Thursday that Bartiromo was 'no longer with' the network after more than 12 years, effective immediately.
Freedman, however, is now fiercely disputing the way his client's departure has been characterized - while alluding to a potential legal showdown.
'The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,' Freedman told the Daily Mail Friday.
'Make no mistake, we have the receipts and witnesses and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise.
'Those reporting her firing or the incredulous facts supporting that fiction have exhibited a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth,' he added.
The channel's parent company, Fox News Media, made the news known in a press release sent out Thursday morning.
'We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,' a spokesperson said in the press release.
The release further noted how Bartiromo's Fox Business show will now be hosted by a rotating cast of anchors. The show itself is being renamed Mornings With Fox Business.
Her other Fox Business show, Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street, will have her name stripped from it as well, the company said.

Sum Ting Wong. I don’t know who to believe anymore. It just seems strange that Bartoromo needed a high powered lawyer to say something she could’ve said herself. I never watched her show. Did she announce that she was leaving like Neil Cavuto and others did? Did Fox give her a going away party? Something seems strange.
Quite.
The lawyer says that reports that bartoromo is no longer employed false. That should be easy to confirm or refute.
Thought I read something yesterday about her being without contract since sometime last spring. Sounds like they couldn’t come to agreement on new terms.
If she had a good contract, she would probably still get paid through the end of it.
I am guessing here, but it is likely she will sue Fox and then settle. Then she will likely go the Podcast route because she won’t be “allowed” to go onto a broadcast or cable channel. Based on what Tucker and Megan Kelly have done….Maria will be just fine.
Fox is going to lose a ton of money with the ratings drop that will happen in the most important quarter of the year.
Trotting your lawyer out to make a statement on your behalf isn’t “breaking your silence,” in my book.
It’s all so confusing
So, did she quit...?
Maria isn’t the kind of chick you want to get into a fight with. Popcorn futures are up.
She’s probably already fine compared to most Americans. She made bank during her tenure and doesn’t “have” to work like you and me.
Why does she need a lawyer to speak to this issue at all?
This should be a slam dunk. Either the memo exists or it doesn't. Staying quiet about it suggests to me that it does exist. 'Course it's only been a couple of days. I will give them the benefit of the doubt but I'd also like to know for sure that there is no such directive.
That’s the daily fail for you.
Yes it is. Of course this is exactly what we’ve come to expect from the media. Questions lead to more questions
Answers are few and far between.
Not if potential litigation is being planned.
“Trotting your lawyer out to make a statement on your behalf isn’t “breaking your silence,” in my book.”
Best practice if you’re planning some future legal action don’t you think?
If anyone is going to land on her feet after the dust settles it will be Maria Bartiromo.
70M from her tenure allegedly
That’s the whole point. Planned for what reason? Who would sue who? Or is it whom?
