An unidentified object exploded at a train station in the southern German city of Augsburg early Wednesday morning, with two people sustaining minor injuries due to acoustic trauma, police said.
Window panes were also reportedly damaged by the explosion, which occurred in a building passageway.
No information is yet available regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Parts of the station were closed off as police continued investigating the scene. The State Criminal Police Office (LKA) is on the scene with an explosive-disposal robot, the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper reported.
Police first responded to the incident at around 5 a.m. local time.
Augsburg is a regional transport hub around 55 kilometers (35 miles) west of Munich.

What police say locally (1030L)....hand grenade placed around a Turkish jewelry shop, near the station. They hint...believed to be organized crime situation, not a terror event. Station was mostly unaffected...they halted ‘runs’ for a while.
Across most urbanized cities in Germany...crime syndicates/families/clans...have been growing year by year.

We were out walking on Maximilianstraße in Munich 30 minutes ago and ten police motorcycles and six police cars went by slowly, blue lights, no sirens. No big black VIP limo. Odd.
Munich Hauptbahnhof is normal with maybe more police presence than usual.
Well, that sounds very much like an ordinary police convoy🙂
Police and military convoys tend to switch on the blue flashing lights in order to politely tell the other road users that they are travelling as a unit, indirectly requesting from other vehicles not to break it up. But they won’t have right of way until turning on their sirens.
At least that’s the legal situation here - I have no clue what the corresponding way of behaving is in America…
Funeral processions will have police cars with lights flashing, they block traffic to allow the procession to proceed .
Hearses and the “family cars” use flashing purple lights to identify the procession.
Not so odd. We stood at the side of the street decades back when President Clinton's motorcade went by in Berlin. When the VIP limo flies a flag of some nation, it's a big help to identify. When there is not national flag, it's likely some government big-wig. The German police are very good at these sorts of things.
Thanks for the info. You rarely see police convoys like that in the States unless it is a procession for a fallen officer. But then there are usually hundreds of colleagues officers turning out from all nearby jurisdictions.

I kept waiting for a big black VIP State limo with flags, but nothing. Just slow moving police cars and motorcycles.
Unsure of what you meant. If there was a car which was not police, but flanked by police vehicles, and no flag, it was very likeyl a “local” politician. Used to see that often, once upon a time. Enjoy the trip!
Yes, maybe it really was, as Worldtraveler has pointed out, some government VIP with his bodyguards.
Often, when they are in no particularly hurry to get to their destination, they dispense with the wailing sirens - which the police, ambulance or firefighters also use when seconds count - which give the user general priority in traffic.
Using the blues to indicate a convoy of several vehicles, but without insisting on their right of way as a matter of principle, but only when absolutely necessary, is the way VIPs over here show consideration for their fellow road users.
I believe, blue flashing lights are used in a more inflationary way in Germany than in the USA? 😀
