The leaders of China, Russia and India gathered with other heads of state in Kyrgyzstan on Monday for the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a group billed as a counterweight to U.S. global influence. Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are attending the events in Bishkek, the capital of the Central Asian nation. Putin met separately with Xi and Modi in two of the many bilateral sessions on the sidelines of the summit, Russian state media reported. Putin affirmed to Xi Moscow’s readiness to make the visa-free regime with China permanent, and he said Russia’s relationship with India is strengthening, according to the reports.

I watched a couple of videos posted by Chinese tourists visiting Russia. They were severely abused by the cops and airport officials. They had payments extorted from them by the police and other officials. All is not happy in commie land. The top officials can say anything they want. But each country has valid reasons to despise the other at every level. That they will work in unison to counter the United States is probably not going to happen. This reminds me of working at a company where the clueless president is insisting that everyone will do such and such and every person listening knows that will never happen. Yet, everyone nods and smiles.
