Right after Labor Day, the president will return to the Lone Star State.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) will hold its first ever midterm convention in Dallas at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 10.
President Trump will attend both nights and deliver the keynote address on Thursday night, while Vice President JD Vance will give the keynote address on Wednesday night.
The RNC says with about 20,000 people attending, it will be their largest convention in ten years, when Mr. Trump was nominated the first time.

CBS seems to think this is a strange and newsworthy idea.

Think of the protesters outside. At least the arena has AC indoors.
It attracts the kind of people you would least likely want to give power to regardless of party. People who want power over other people because they believe they are better than those 'masses'. Why work for money when you can make other people produce all that good stuff for you?
This is why we always seem to end up with a Uni-party. Our American success is because it made these political scumbags struggle for power against their fellow scumbags while the rest of us could live in peace.

No choice. This has to be done. And right after Labor Day and in Texas - big race deep state w deep pockets -including Cornyn whose
Staffer works on Talarico campaign- versus underfunded pro Trump GOP candidate whom the GOP won’t fund.
First:
How many Republicans attending this convention are actually in touch with the base, or even know a person in the base?
And how many are in the incestuous group that never listen to the base?
Of those who actually listen to the base, how many will go home and talk to the base and will hear the base say “That convention really motivated me to vote when I was not motivated because I don’t see any politician concerned about my issues.... which are not Iran nor tariffs nor illegals but the price of gas, the price of groceries.
I hope so, but put me in the skeptical column because I’m just not sure an “off-cycle/midterm” ‘pseudo-convention’ is going to catch any eyes that aren’t already in the fold.
I am glad it’s Texas, though - because all things being equal, that’s the seat that *really* concerns me for a lot of reasons.
Not my state, but I have friends in Texas that feeding my concern.
A bit closer to home - but I think there are some eerie parallels to the 2022 WI-SEN midterm election (RonJohn vs ‘Mandela’). Barnes has proven to be the leftist knowledgeable folks knew (and a skank to boot), but it was a top rat target.
Fortunately, RonJohn didn’t take the summer off - and he went “on air” earlier to bury and define Barnes. Barnes *did* take the summer off. Barnes and his rats seemed to lean on early/summer polling leads - and by the time Labor Day hit? He was behind and couldn’t catch up. Potato Joe’s unpopularity didn’t help.
But I look at Texas - again, from far? Talefreak-O hasn’t let up since the primary while Paxton... IDK... took a vacation. And the freak-O has spent a ton of money (and has a bunch of money).
Fortunately, Texas isn’t Wisconsin — more red slack to play with. But let’s be serious: Paxton riles the base, but he’s got a lot of baggage that drives off indie squishes and I think he’s done a terrible job consolidating/reaching out to the ‘RINOs’. Cornyn hasn’t helped.
But DJT needs to spend that big warchest *now*. Not later, NOW (wish it was YESTERDAY).
It better.
Why? Can’t the candidates raise their own?
Can’t there be an October Surprise (or September) in which Telafreako is exposed as a charlatan?
Much too depressing that polls show him mighty and confident.

I remember in Locus the science fiction trade publication when a convention was held in Texas. They said the ticket holders were given a city opinion survey about factors about having a convention there. They asked what caused certain negative possibilities.
The writer said: “How about going outside and it’s a heat index of 115 degrees and no one lasts outside long enough to go to the shops and food places along the streets? It’s too hot.”
Glenn Beck said when taking his two dogs (at that time) outside during a heat wave that they stopped on the door step and looked up at him as if to say “Can’t you see we’re wearing fur coats? It’s too hot out.”

The primary was *ridiculously* expensive on the GOP side - look, hate on me, but if I lived in Texas? I’d have voted for Cornyn. But that’s water under the bridge. Paxton is the nominee and we NEED to hold that seat. Paxton’s money got drained. The RSCC spent heavily on Cornyn - again, water under the bridge.
Let’s save the post-mortems and recriminations until *AFTER* the election.
Right *now*? Paxton needs money. AND he needs to start spending that money. The last report I saw had freak-O with about 22m cash-on-hand. Paxton more like 2m.
The biggest number available: RNC vs (hilariously broke) DNC. RSCC vs DSCC. DJT has about 800m. And he’s not running again. He needs to spend a big chunk in Texas. Period.
Look - I don’t deny I’m a Trump skeptic (go ahead, call me a RINO, a globalist, whatever). But it’s past-crunch time.
We can debate and discuss *IN DECEMBER* (and personally? I think the party committees should 100% stay out of primaries) how we got here.
DJT’s PAC needs to drop a big chunk on this race. Now. Today. Not tomorrow but today.

Paxton beat W’s (nephew, I think?) in the AG primary years ago. And ‘MAGA’ has made it a decade-long endeavor to paint W as a villain on par with the leftists.
Whether he would or not is a different matter - but 1)I’m 99% he hasn’t been invited, and 2)it’s been made painfully clear he’s not welcome.
I think 2) is a mistake. W was far from perfect - but I think he’s terribly, overly bashed.
You can’t blame W for not helping when EVERYBODY in the current state has spent a decade - up to and including this year - telling he’s not welcome.
