At least 27 people have been killed and dozens wounded after a Russian drone attack triggered a large fire and multiple explosions that lasted for hours at a warehouse in a residential area near Kyiv. The attack — in the Bucha district — came amid near constant aerial assaults from Russia but the likely storage of ammunition at the warehouse has had catastrophic consequences. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed to punish those responsible.

I find it odd that all at once we are hearing about Ukraine again. CNN obviously up to something.

Responsible for storing the ammunition in the first place?

Russian battlefield casualties are running about one per minute (1,440 per day), 24 x 7, with more than half of those KIA. Total Russian casualties in the current invasion of Ukraine are about to break 1,500,000 (1,483,780 on the 28 Aug report). The Soviet Union by comparison, then including Ukrainians, had about 50,000 in total killed in ten years of the Afghan War.
Russian recruiting efforts no longer keep up with losses, and preparations have been made to re-institute mandatory mobilizations, after next month’s (Sept) elections. The border crossing into Georgia already has a miles long back up, as it did when Russia last declared a mobilization in 2022, and over a million men left the country (overwhelmingly, not to return).
Reuters noted recently that all of Lukoil’s refineries in Russia have now suspended operations, due to damage. Gazprom, long the biggest single contributor to Russian Government revenues, now continues to lose money, quarter after quarter, despite having ceased to invest in future production.
Russia’s depleted National Wealth Fund can no longer cover Russia’s Federal budget deficits as it did in the early years of the war, and the deficits themselves continue growing larger, accelerating sharply this year, despite the largest tax hikes since the fall of the Soviet Union.
Preparations have also been made to re-institute food ration cards after the election, and fuel rationing has already been used this year in Russia on a spot basis. Deposits are being withdrawn from the Russian banking system at the maximum level allowed by Russia’s new legal restrictions, while the proportion of non-performing loans continues to grow sharply.

Good points all. This opens another question, if the Russkies/Putin ultimately lose to the Ukrainians will the Chicoms invade or take over a huge part of ethnic Russia? Especially those of of Asian descent like we have seen in recent years.

I don't think the war ever stopped. It's been in the news everyday since the beginning. Even here on FR, there are two or more articles about Ukraine posted for discussion every day. I've seen your handle/id, in fact, among the engaged parties in those discussions. What gives?
It's not an issue revived by CNN.

Not the people. Just legitimate military targets, like Wildberries and Ozon and even ammunition storage areas.
If Ukraine had decided to attack civilians in the same fashion Putin does, millions of Russian civilian casualties would have resulted.

The latest shipment of Patriot Missiles never made it to service.
And you are jumping with joy, and toasting Putin with champagne.
BTW, the Russian equivalents of Patriots are not working either, which means that if Ukraine decided to target the same type of targets Russia is targeting, hundreds of thousands Russians would have died by now. Ukraine can attack inside Russia, anywhere it wants, at will, with nothing to stop the drones and missiles. Why don't you celebrate that too?

Your question has already been answered.
China knows that Russia is busy trying to take Ukraine and has no time or resources to battle on another front.
So, China and N.Korea are already taking over about 40% of Russia, in the eastern part of the nation. Chinese and N.Koreans are moving into the sparse lands of Russia in the east. Russia can't do anything about it. So, after the war is over, about 40% of Russia will have been 'conquered' without a fight.

You bring hope and hopelessness at the same time.
Good news and bad news.
Good news, no more Putin when he dies.
Bad news, Russia becoming Muslim. That might actually be worse for the world, especially Russia's neighbors in Europe, than the current composition of Russia.

Responsible for storing the ammunition in the first place? Yes, there's a criminal investigation into whose responsible for the storage of munitions in a residential area.
My guess is Zelenski will blame former Defense Minister Federov regardless of who is responsible.
