One of the things on my bucket list is to visit the Atacama desert and the European Southern Observatory complex. If I do go one of the things I’d look forward to is seeing a clear night sky with its trillions of stars now that having had my cataracts fixed I now have absolutely amazing distance vision.

"...now that having had my cataracts fixed I now have absolutely amazing distance vision."

Almost know how you feel...
Last year had left eye cataract surgery; the right eye may happen later this year... At 93, it is not a straightforward decision... The right eye is very marginally in cataract territory, according to the doctors...
IAC, my overall eyesight is well within the state driving requirements and, at the range, I can see targets at 100 yards...

I had both eyes a few months ago. Before the surgery I thought my distance vision was pretty good with glasses. But my retina specialist, who I see yearly, suggested that I have them done. After the first eye was done I was stunned how clear, vivid and colorful everything was. After the second eye my astonishment deepened.

At 93 I'm sure the surgeon would want your primary care doctor to approve the procedure. Assuming he/she gives the OK you'll surely experience at least a small improvement...and maybe a big one. Good luck!
