WASHINGTON—President Trump’s half-built White House ballroom is a 90,000-square-foot embodiment of a recurring legal conundrum: What happens when a boundary-pushing president moves faster than courts can keep up?
The Supreme Court will soon decide whether to allow Trump to continue building the $400 million project. But he and his administration’s lawyers have told the justices that they have no real choice at all.
Construction of the “concrete-and-steel superstructure,” they say, has already advanced so far that it would be “practically impossible” to stop now, let alone tear down what has already been built.

It’s now a military necessity, especially given what’s both underneath and on top (drone security). THe ballroom is just sandwiched between.
Military will trump SCOTUS.
And Nixon and obamski and...............
Where in the Constitution does it give SC the approval?
Has anyone been following the construction activity enough to know if many stories of bomb proof level construction has probably been going on all this time?
LOL
Sometimes it’s easier to ask forgiveness than get permission.
And just like every Democrat who has ever ignored the court (including Andy Jackson).
How many buildings in Washington DC required the court’s approval?
yeah. I don’t know why they aren’t pushing the National Security necessity.
With drones, someone could take out a whole lot of world leaders in one place
Lock him up.
He should have stopped construction.
Are they nuts? What’s wrong with building this ballroom? He’s not the only president that wanted more than a pathetic tent out on the lawn! That bullets can go through!!! This is a safety feature of the ballroom, actual walls instead of canvas or whatever material was used. As long as donations are funding it, and it suits the accompanying architecture, what’s there to complain about?
Obviously, there are going to be taxpayer funds involved in the utilities and maintenance, but we’re already paying for tents that probably have to be replaced often if not every time. And how do those work out on windy, rainy, snowy days? All it would take is a drone to drop an incendiary device on a tent full of international guests to create a global uproar.
Unlike Obambi’s Library, all contractors are probably being paid.
Okay Missus Clinton...
They thought the same thing about the tariffs
Trump should have had dignitaries eating in Tepees.
These people call themselves “progressives”. What a load.
DID THE USSC APPROVE OBAMA’S BASKETBALL COURT??????????????
I’ve said that n used the philosophy many times
The only real complaint re the ballroom is that it was Trump’s idea.
For a moderate sized tent event, the portable BRs are Big $$$. These are not port-a-potties. They are prob 5x8 each on trailers w crews that clean them after each individual use.
