I haven't seen such a recklessly steered case since the McMartin family was sent to prison based on emotion and politics instead of logic, reason, and evidence. And now, finally, a Minnesota judge will mete out a little justice in the case of Derek Chauvin, the cop who is alleged to have purposely killed George Floyd.
Former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin says that the charges against him were "illegal" and that his trial was a "fraud." The now-imprisoned cop and his lawyer are calling for the verdict to be thrown out because of civil rights violations so severe that the trial became a "one-year-long due process violation."
Minnesota, though a basket case, may have one judge left who knows what justice is supposed to look like.
Chauvin, who used a knee hold to keep a resisting George Floyd on the ground while awaiting backup and an ambulance, was found guilty of murdering the drugged-out fentanyl user who had just taken a deadly overdose to hide the drugs from the Minneapolis Police Department.
The cops were called because Floyd, his previous girlfriend, and their drug dealer were passing fake $20 bills at a small store. The drug dealer, who could have been an exonerating witness for Chauvin was NOT allowed to testify.
There is a list of jurisprudential horribles (below) so numerous that the former cop is demanding his guilty verdict be tossed.
Liz Collin of Minneapolis's Alpha News first reported that "a new bombshell court filing alleg[es] ‘illegal’ and ‘fraudulent’ conduct by Governor Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office." These are allegations that few will have trouble believing if they've paid attention to the news out of Minnesota during the last five years.

The Judge, the Jury, and the Prosecutors all need to go to prison for violating his civil rights to a fair trial.
Don’t bet on it.
The “Reverend” Al Sharpton and Maxine Waters were in front of the courthouse saying any juror who voted not guilty would be dead, or some such thing.
Drop all charges and free Chauvin. In addition compensate for all of the legal costs he has incurred and pay him back pay plus interest for all lost police department salary.
Not really news as all of this happened in a warped space known as Tim Walz World.
[AKA, the place formerly known as Minn.]
I don’t think that ever happens.
I stick with my belief that specialized AI tools ought to be used to process current legal statutes and then process submitted evidence. Was a law violated? Is the evidence sufficient to assign guilt? Is the defendant the guilty party? Have a human review the AI decision to protect against hallucinations and whatnot. IF the human judge disagrees with the AI, then have the human judge explain in detail why the AI verdict is wrong.
The current justice system is awful. Largely because of the humans involved in the process.
Chauvin was railroaded no serious person deny that. Overcharged and guilty before it even started but there is no chance he will get out. The cities will burn..again.
Which is why we have so many screwed up courts and screwed up court verdicts.
It was ALWAYS utter garbage and a violation of his rights because he used standard police procedures… even Stevie Wonder could’ve seen that.
This was never about justice - this was about communist revolution!!
WUT? I’m shocked I tell ya! 🙄
Mr. Conservative friend of law enforcement Sean Hannity considered Chauvin guilty because Sean watched the video and knows a bad cop when he sees one
Flawed evidence, kangaroo court = guilty. What a travesty.
The other officers who were convicted need to be exonerated also.
Hannity got it wrong big time.
I have never liked Sean Hannity. He just won't shut up and let his guests talk. I have absolutely disliked him since he completely flubbed up the interview with Judge Roy Moore.
I have no use for him.
Chauvin did not kill Floyd. Floyd killed Floyd.
FREEEE DEREK!!!
But we Americans already knew that. It was the garbage from Africa that turned it into a circle jerk.
Plastic surgery and relocating to Europe might regain him some semblance of that.
